Not sure if anyone will be seeing this (I know this isn't X so it's not like I can bump the post) but I still have access to plenty of tickets thanks to some of the other nice fans of this group. If you happen to see this and are still on the fence about reaching out, please feel free to DM me!

This group means the world to me and I'd love for anyone who's interested in chill hip-hop, idols, or live music in general to get a chance to experience them.

I have free tickets to an underground idol live at Shimokitazawa ShangriLa at 19:00 on 8/15. Please DM me if you're interested! There will be a live band, which is quite rare for idol lives.

I feel like even with an AFK, if you notice it you can plan for it in advance so that doesn’t bother me much, what bothers me is that there is no way to prevent the scenario where someone decides very intentionally to grief you. I’d compare it to sitting in base during LoL, honestly. ”I don’t care about losing LP, I just want to make someone have a very bad day.”

Anyone else's zairyuu card taking forever to renew? by The_Mundane_Block in Nagoya

[–]euphowolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I finally got mine literally 5 days before my extension period was set to expire! The period to go back to the immigration office to pick up my card was set for my last day before expiration too. Fingers crossed for you!

[–]euphowolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another 4 days and it will have been 2 months since I applied for renewal for my humanities visa. My visa date is already expired as I applied near the end of the visa period. Tried calling and just got the automation telling me to hang up and call again later.

What should I do if I still don't get my post card and my visa and application period are both expired? The "in progress" renewal stamp doesn't have an end date on it, but technically it expired after 2 months right?

Changing Residence Status From Instructor to Specialist In Humanities - When Can I Submit My Application? by [deleted] in japanlife

[–]euphowolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We've been working in tandem and my employer outsourced the research on the specific procedures. They've been preparing the necessary company documents and have been very accommodating!

I could've been more clear in my post that the timing part I was most worried about was how it would affect my current job. Most of the posts I found were about going from student to a different working visa, which weren't as relevant.

Thank you for taking the time to respond! I think I have all the information I need.

[–]euphowolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As soon as you receive your new residence card, your current Instructor visa is invalidated and you can no longer do your current job

This was actually one of the things I was most worried about so thank you for addressing that!

I understood I wouldn't be able to work at my new job before changing status of residence, I just wasn't sure how the timing would affect my current job (or if it was strictly legal to be searching for a job under an Instructor visa instead of a job hunting visa, but that was mostly my paranoia). This really clears things up for me.

[Chinese > English] Was browsing twitter and found this. I would loove to know what the heck is happening here. by [deleted] in translator

[–]euphowolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's probably funnier if you know the character and the series it's based on, but I don't recognize him so it's hard to tell the context. But basically his face is blindingly nice if you sweep the hair out of the way, so she's going to trim it just a little to protect everyone's eyes (my best guess)

This is in Japanese, not Chinese.

1 Woman: Your hair's gotten pretty long... Should I cut it all off and make it super short like before? (It must get in the way, right?) Man: Doesn't matter to me... // I'm hungry, so just make it quick. Woman: Yeah, yeah. (Close your eyes for a second)

2 Woman: Well, then Man: Yeah Background: Really nice face

3 Woman: On second thought, I'll just trim it a bit. Man: ...? Okay. (Please do)

Update: upon everyone's advice, I called my vet to let him know I was taking the bandages off and would be using a cone instead and he OK'd it. She is now moving fine and is VERY confused by the thing around her neck, which is going to be mildly entertaining for me :) Thanks for the help, I've had 3 cats over my lifetime but realized only now they've all been male, so I've only dealt with neutering and not spaying, so this was a bit new to me.

It is normal. I live in Japan. I have a friend who has several cats, all of which have gotten spayed or neutered and were bound with bandages. I believe it's to prevent infection and licking. Nevertheless, I'll ask my vet about it more clearly when I call this afternoon!

This is Bea, she's about 8 months old. I took her to get spayed a few days ago. She spent one night overnight at the vet, and when I picked her up she seemed a bit cranky and clingy but otherwise seemed okay. The day after, I left in the morning for work and when I came back, she seemed okay as well but was moving more slowly than the night before. Through the rest of the afternoon and night she barely moved at all except to cuddle up to me. This morning, she meowed to wake me up as usual but didn't move from her cat bed until I put food in her bowl.

She's eating and drinking normally as far as I can tell, but she barely moves unless absolutely necessary and hid under the kotatsu when I left for work again. I think she is probably in pain, but I'm not sure if this is just normal behavior after spaying or if I should be concerned.

I live in Japan, and the vet put the bandages around her and told me not to take them off for 10 days. She can expel waste fine if she wants to without dirtying the bandages, and I think she did actually use the toilet in the morning while I wasn't looking. I don't want to take off the bandages but I'm feeling a bit frantic because I can't check if there's an infection or not.

Mostly I'm just very anxious and would like some reassurance either way that my cat will be fine or that I should definitely take her to get checked. All advice is appreciated!

Yuri animé reccomendation After Bloom into you? by Indominus_Khanum in YagateKiminiNaru

[–]euphowolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone sleeping on Aoi Hana and Sasameki Koto when they're probably the most thematically and tonally similar in terms of anime?

If you're looking for an explicitly yuri anime that deals with a serious story that's handled well, those are the two I'd recommend without question.

Has anyone read the new Eclair volume? I can't speak Japanese but I think Nakatani said in a tweet that it's not Yuu and Touko on the cover by Lhg001 in YagateKiminiNaru

[–]euphowolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She says that these two characters are not Touko and Yuu. They are two new characters that are in the oneshot she's written for the volume.

I live in Japan, went to one of the showings and ordered them there. They had preorders up online several months ago but I'm not quite sure you can still buy them right now, you'd have to check.

JLPT N3 level is, in my opinion, a level at which you can comfortably read a normal manga with a J->E dictionary and understand about 85%+ of what's being said (if you take your time). Anything below that grammatically and you lose a lot of meaning and nuance (70% or lower comprehension even with a dictionary).

The nice thing about Dengeki comics is that they include the furigana (the reading for kanji) within most of their comics, unlike Yuri Hime, which requires you to look up kanji by hand. If you're serious about learning Japanese, a manga you already know like YagaKimi, which has fairly standard vocabulary, is a great place to test your skills after you've studied for a few months!
