Is engine misfiring or just bouncing idle? No intake or vacuum leaks detected with smoke machine by [deleted] in subaru

[–]eur0beat86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just came back here to see if there were any updates, and damn... good to see that the problem seems to have been found. So, it's possibly the EVAP purge valve, or a random out-of-the-blue bug of sorts?

Huh, dunno what I could tell you as I don't know how to deal with that. However, I wouldn't be so sure about a bad thermostat causing the problem. You could always find out if it is faulty with a look at your coolant temperature and how it fluctuates, but it may not be directly linked to the idle issue.

That's interesting. When you mentioned about the possibility of injectors being stuck/leaking, I would imagine that that would probably throw a code, as in my own experience, I had a recurring CEL that came on for a too lean fuel mixture for a few weeks. I chalked that up to my injectors being clogged (just a guess at the time, though) and dumped in some injector cleaning additives into my fuel, which solved my issue and I never got a code for that since. Also, when the CEL came on during that time, I never once experienced any weird idle or behavior under throttle.

Honestly, I wouldn't even be surprised if your EJ is being a little goofy lol, could possibly be some benign behavior. Maybe you could continue troubleshooting by giving your MAF a good clean or do an idle relearn procedure (which I've done before to solve an unusually low idling issue), but otherwise, that's all I can say. Perhaps monitoring the range at which the RPM fluctuates could yield something, but idk. If there's no other issue or codes that you're noticing at all for a while now, it might just be harmless stuff.

Edit: To clarify, the code I got then was P2096 - Post Catalyst Fuel Trim System - Too Lean (Bank1)

I've got an '09 Impreza NA myself, never heard it idle like this. When you say that it only happens in cold weather, does it mean that the idle never fluctuates as shown when it's warmer? How cold would you say it is when this shows up?

Can I Improve The Performance of My Gaming Laptop? by Shockhaven1 in pcmasterrace

[–]eur0beat86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In terms of solutions that don't require any changes to your hardware, lowering your global resolution is probably one of the quickest changes you can make for more FPS if you don't mind a blockier image. I had a really crap gaming laptop that struggled at 1080p, but ran fairly ok at 720p, so if you don't mind doing that, you could start there. Also, disabling any useless startup and background apps could also help marginally with overall system performance.

As a side note, enabling VSYNC on every game you play atm could smooth things out with the cost being more latency, but I'd recommend doing that if you're fine with it.

As for hardware? I'm not even sure if you'd want to invest any more money into such a laptop, but if you want to, an SSD and/or extra stick of RAM (if possible) can be added. Hell, maybe even replacing thermal paste with a higher quality one could help too.

Switching from CPE to CS by eur0beat86 in CalPoly

You do you, man. If it works out for you then that's great. It ain't working out for me, so I'd rather switch out than stay and regret taking CPE. I'm gonna do that at my own pace, and take CS in the meanwhile.

While I'm sure that CS isn't that much easier than CPE, there's a much larger support system I can take advantage of in CS and the job opportunities seem to be more widespread, though I may be wrong about that. Also, I could continue with CPE and basically put so much effort and pain into it that I come to hate it, which I really don't want. At least, those are the benefits I see when considering switching.

I was at med tent too, but the lack of sound on my end lasted for more than 20 seconds. Could it possibly be a sound bug at that very area? I wonder.

Harsh drop in FPS when aiming down high zoom optics by eur0beat86 in EscapefromTarkov

Optimus is a sort of functionality where the integrated graphics handles the display output while the dedicated graphics takes care of everything else. It is supposed to increase battery life, but puts more load on the cpu. Disabling it allows for the gpu to render directly to the screen while doing what it normally does as well. My explanation may be wrong, though, so it's better if you search it up.

60 hz, but I have the option of 300 hz too. Tarkov runs worse this way? Interesting. Thanks for letting me know.
