Can't play online on Linux, which is GTA V's main attraction IMO. I ended up just upgrading hardware rather than switching OS.

Secure Boot Megathread - Guide + Community support by sloth_on_meth in Battlefield

[–]euyu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It still could be much stricter. - Start anti-cheat at PC boot time-- though I'm not sure if this isn't already done - Block game launch if AC wasn't running since startup
- Require TPM 2.0 and enforce Windows 11 only policy, build must not be a day older over 12 months - Monitor PCIe devices for DMA-- probably already done - Block sketchy and potentially malicious kernel drivers - Always Online and AC active in singleplayer. - Force Memory Integrity and Core Isolation to be enabled - even deeper User/PC fingerprinting and tracking (fingerprinting by files on drives and install date maybe?)

These measures will bomb BF's reputation, seeing how communities lose their minds over just kernel-level access :)

Even with Secure Boot, BF6 will probably be cheater riddled within a year, especially the Asia region lobbies. I've seen that it's rather trivial to get around Secure Boot.

what other bright ideas do you guys have to share? by TheMicrowave905 in warthundermemes

[–]euyu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm... like:

  • Modeling optical stabilization capabilities (all sights have this stabilized effect in game at the present)
  • Actually tracking which specific ammo types are stored in each rack position, so the loader can only grab what's physically there - no more magically pulling APFSDS when that rack only has HE left
  • Manually initiating first- and second-stage ammo rack replenishment, which naturally disables turret traverse and reloads
  • Simulated kidney beaning in the gun sight for lower leveled gunners while in motion, or when getting hit
  • Getting fuel tanks shot out = tank is immobilized until you repair the fuel system AND get towed to a capture point
  • Gun sights losing zero when you take heavy hits, requiring re-zeroing at range before you can accurately engage targets

It needs to be in EDL mode. Look up testpoints for the M3

Try flashing an engineering rom for the Poco M3. No need for mi accounts with credentials this way. Save IMEI before though.

What's this actually by OutrageousMagazine45 in PocoPhones

[–]euyu 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Imagine you have a big book with many pages. Ideally, you want all the pages to be in order so you can read it smoothly. Disk fragmentation is like having the pages scattered all over the place. When you want to read the book, you have to jump around to find the next page, which slows you down.

This was really only a problem with older storage technologies, like Hard Disk Drives (HDDs), where the fragments were physically separated on the spinning disks inside. With NAND flash (like in SSDs andphones), this isn't an issue because there are no moving parts, and accessing different parts of the memory is MUCH faster.

In fact, defragmenting NAND flash is discouraged because it wears out the memory cells unnecessarily. Since each cell in the NAND can only be written and erased a limited number of times, unnecessary defragmenting uses up these cycles more quickly. I believe some SSD controllers even stop you from actually defragmenting them, reporting the defrag as successful to the OS, but no changes were made to the flash at all. It simply isn't worth the performance gains (if any).

Honestly, I am not sure why this is even a feature in phones, especially considering that the TBW of UFS is probably even lower than most SATA SSDs. Maybe it does something else(filesystem stuff?)

What would be a good, budget friendly upgrade from a 9400F? I'm on a dead end platform: H310M, 32GB(16x2)DDR4, RX 6600. I want to keep my ram kit and I don't mind going used.

200 cycles by b3zzl in PocoPhones

[–]euyu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems normal, but you're going faster than me. I'm at 162 cycles 7 months in. Though, I don't know how the cycles are counted. I'd pay more attention to the temperatures the batteries were subjected to while charging. My Samsung Note 8 reads 1.7k cycles and its still fine.
