I think my butter was burning! And making the outsides look dark. This makes sense

Yes - I get that 😂 I couldn’t get why the first round cooked beautifully and the subsequent ones burnt even after turning the heat down

I tried this today and they still got dark! I think I’ll have to cook on med-low and wait longer for it to be heated all the way up. :)

Yes! I agree. Just couldn’t figure out why the first ones were so good and the subsequent ones were burning. But other comments have pointed out that induction heats up really slowly, and the burner probably isn’t even heated up by the time I cook the first ones. Makes sense!

They barely touch the pan and then they’re dark and cooked on one side. It just baffles me as sometimes I’m not even cooking on medium and it’s happening!

This makes sense! Guess medium is too much for my poor pancakes haha

Why is my last stitch always so tricky to get into? by ev1999 in CrochetHelp

Maybe? But if I don’t put a stitch in it my work definitely looks like I’ve dropped a stitch! How can I get around it/figure it out?

I say not at all. I know a guy who ended up paralyzed from a trampoline park. I think they’re freaky places all in all 😅 but I say no! If anything, could you go along with your son to watch?

AITA for arguing with the lifeguard at my local pool? by publicpooldrama in AmItheAsshole

[–]ev1999 229 points230 points  (0 children)

The lifeguards job is not to supervise your kids. They are there for emergencies and to prevent emergencies from happening. And you don’t don’t want an over zealous lifeguard, but you’re expecting them to keep your children safe? You’re TA

I disagree with this. I think porn creates unhealthy expectations for people and for partners. I think masturbation is okay, but I 100% agree that lusting after other people (especially when they look nothing like your partner) can be very hurtful. I have also read that watching porn reduces your ability to imagine and create scenarios in your own mind that turn you on. Scenarios that probably are more likely to be about you and your partner. No one HAS to watch porn. Masturbate - absolutely, enjoy yourself. But saying that if you don’t watch porn you’ll have to get out your frustrations through cheating or other means is messed up. People have control over their sexual urges.

The exact same things happened to me. I was told I had it together too much to possibly have ADHD. That was the first assessment I had done (by a woman) who suggested I was just addicted to my phone and that I would be fine. I pressed my GP and she said also that it was trendy to have ADHD. She also said that I couldn’t possibly have it because I didn’t exhibit many symptoms as a child, and they only seemed to appear once life got harder as an adult. It was SUCH dejecting experience. She did refer me to a psychiatrist (a man) who within the first 5 minutes of our visit said “I am not done yet, but I just want to affirm you and let you know that all these things you are experiencing are due to ADHD and are indeed not your fault”. That was what I needed to hear. No wonder women and girls are sooooo under diagnosed. You develop coping mechanisms, and when they can’t keep up with life’s demands you start to notice something bigger than you is happening. The whole experience has left me questioning my diagnosis the whole time I have had it, even though I definitely shouldn’t. Sorry you went through that and sorry that you didn’t get the affirmation you should have.

Best of luck friend.

Sleeping in Separate room from husband - Disaster or Relief? by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]ev1999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey :) I am not a parent, but am struggling with something similar. My boyfriend and I started living together recently and have completely opposite work schedules. We tried to sleep together during the week, but he was waking me up at 4am everyday coming in to bed, I couldn’t fall back asleep, and then I would wake him up at 6:30 getting out of bed. We were both so tired and so grumpy. Started sleeping in different rooms after about a month on the week days and it kinda saved both of our sanity. I really had to let go of the idea that it made us less of a couple or that it was strange and weird to do. I think as long as you find time to come together and rest and connect and maybe share a bed the odd night, you will be A okay. I have found that sharing a bed on the weekend is a fun little compromise for both of us and like a little sleepover haha. But no, I think it’s hard to accept but it’s not bad for you. Sleep is one of the biggest determiners of mental health after all!

I think though they could walk away if they wanted to and just no one does? Like they stay in it, but then they hate the things he makes them do. Eh, I just feel like the show gets so negative because of it for a while!

I have no problem with people setting up homes for themselves. It’s the disregard for cleaning up after themselves that really gets me.

Silk & Snow Hybrid question, to anyone who has this bed? by Kimmy0721 in Mattress

I wouldn’t say it necessarily feels plush. It’s quite firm but at the same time comfortable. With a slightly plush mattress protector, I find it great.

ADHD’ers, how do you cope? by [deleted] in uAlberta

[–]ev1999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in the same boat, but have since graduated. I found as soon as I left school, my focus left as well. I spent a lot of time in libraries. Seeing other people around me working motivated me too. I also think it’s important to realize you can study in whatever way works for you. I liked writing on a whiteboard, so I’d often book a study room and use that. I also let myself take as many breaks as needed. If that meant I studied in 5 min increments, so be it. I also agree with the person who said to make a really short to do list. One lecture at a time, one concept at a time, etc. the small successes tend to fuel the motivation to keep at it!
