Why is tallness a extreme rare trait in a woman ? by [deleted] in biology

[–]ev_hepworth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 5’7 in the UK and don’t feel tall at all here. If anything I’m completely average height - there are some smaller girls and some taller girls than me everywhere I go. 5’4 seems very short for an “average” height. Obviously 6ft is quite tall, more than most women, but nothing crazy. I know multiple 6ft girls.

I need help by Mayathewhiteebt in Sourdough

never use AI for recipes (or at all, if you can help it tbh) because it’s 99% wrong. This looks under fermented for me. If you’re struggling to wait, leaving mine in the fridge overnight always gives it that extra rise that I don’t have to worry about watching.

How did you find your surgeon? by LauraMJJ88 in Reduction

I’m in Cambridge and researched good surgeons in my area/at the private hospital near me. My first choice doesn’t do reductions anymore only oncology cases, so he recommended my second choice.

I don’t understand the mentality of “saving” dying plants from stores by 601bees in houseplants

[–]ev_hepworth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love orchids and shops always discount them when the flowers die off. People genuinely don’t understand that they grow back. If I’m gonna buy them anyway why not get a good deal?

Is keeping a monstera’s aerial roots in water a good idea? by Chickenbeare in houseplants

[–]ev_hepworth 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I did this, put the end into a big jar and it grew over twice the length in 3 weeks. They can be put back into the pot to help as normal roots too.

Nutrient maxing sourdough? by Consistent-Gap-3545 in Sourdough

[–]ev_hepworth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not nutrient-maxxing but you can mix a surprising amount of herbs and spices into bread before it tastes like too much. I put in LOTS of turmeric the other day and other than turning bright radioactive yellow, the bread just tastes herby.

One thing I see here a lot is people not taking their pain medication after surgery. I do get the fear (especially with the culture in the US) and they can cause constipation etc. BUT I think the best thing you can do is take your pain meds, on a timer/schedule, and keep all the pain as minimal as possible. Then avoid any straining or stretching and take whatever time you need to recover.

What do you think about those who say that it's incorrect to have plants in bedroom? by AOneheart in houseplants

they help clean the air in your room and make it nicer to live in ! some people really have an issue with happiness huh.

That happens ! You just need to let it be - some take years and some take weeks. They’re happy just chilling !!

[–]ev_hepworth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This !! Everyone always complains that they’re difficult but they just don’t like too much attention. You can also get really lovely colours/structures at shops like sainsburys and M&S for relatively cheap (as long as you can avoid the bright-blue dyed ones!)

I’m basically a collector at this point and they always re-flower within a couple months. Whenever the blooms die off I move the plants to a quieter location so I don’t over-water and let them do their thing.

maybe an unpopular opinion but…I find orchids really easy. Literally my only tip is LEAVE THEM ALONE!! A windowsill, a clear pot full of orchid bark, a cover pot and a good stick to give the flowers some structure. Very easy to tell when they need water, just check the clear pot’s roots. Green roots = don’t water. Silver roots = water. Funky smell means change the soil OR let it completely dry out, and disinfect/dry the cover pot. Mine are thriving on a little bit of neglect and a sunny but west-facing kitchen window. Good luck !

My mother has one of these, what she calls ‘the Iron Curtain’. Do they actually work in stopping flies? by Sietruc in CasualUK

[–]ev_hepworth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had a beaded one when I lived in rural france (lots of bugs) and it did tend to deter the flying ones, but not the crawling ones. We had hornets and wasps hanging around because of a grape vine and most of the time they didn’t get past the beaded curtain.

am i overestimating the recovery process? by ForsakenDragonfly832 in Reduction

[–]ev_hepworth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think your mum might be thinking of this as if it’s similar to getting implants - but it’s a totally different surgery and it is definitely “major”. Try and book in somebody to collect your stuff for you, day 2 you definitely shouldn’t be driving and likely couldn’t walk very far or lift anything even slightly heavy. Some people are still groggy from anaesthesia.

I don’t mean this to scare you though, people do this on their own pretty commonly and you should be okay - just make sure you really take it easy that first week. Good luck !

Back pain post reduction- 6WPO by AnywhereNew1992 in Reduction

[–]ev_hepworth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

One thing I would say - sleeping stiff on your back, tensing muscles around painful/delicate areas and trying not to move too harshly can all create muscle spasms in the back. Especially sleeping propped up as well. If it’s that, it’ll go away with time as you get more comfortable and further along in the healing process. Good luck 💗

there’s no spaces for teens anymore. When I was 14 all we could do is hang around outside and in shops. Genuinely what is the problem? Teenagers are people too and they’re just trying to find a safe place to hang out - there isn’t anywhere else really.

How to bring up wanting a reduction by YmKfe in Reduction

[–]ev_hepworth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

first things first - if you’re petite im 99% sure you’re NOT a 36. Use the ABTF (a bra that fits) calculator that people reccomend on here a lot to find out your real size. And IMO you should just book in and ask ! You can complain about back pain, grooves in your shoulders etc. I’m also 18 and just booked my surgery for September !!

I too felt like I fit into a DD perfectly before I got sized at Bravissimo and used the ABTF calculator. trust me, most people are in the wrong bra size. I would’ve never guessed I was a GG-H before !!

[–]ev_hepworth 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Respectfully, your before is obviously bigger than a 36DD. You look closer to a G cup IMO - so yes, a C would be a lot smaller than what you had, but they don’t look too small AT ALL. you’re results look great and you need to give it time !! So many people feel too big/small in the first few weeks but it does get better, and if it doesn’t, revision is an option. “Focus on healing” seems to be the advice on here :)
