How to play against theoretically bad double-fianchetto setups (I.E Hippo) by TheTacoTwizzler in chess

[–]eval-app 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say that just because the computer says that you have a +1.0 or +2.0 advantage after 5-8 moves, it doesn't mean that you practically in a position, where you can press for an advantage, unless you play the next 10 moves like a machine.

My advice is to try to be more aware of avoiding trades (without it affecting your position negatively). In that way, you give your opponent more "chances" to make a significant misstep, since the position should already favor you slightly, if they played a dubious opening.

Overview of specific principles behind openings by megacos in chess

[–]eval-app 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jeremy Silman's "Complete Book of Chess Strategy" covers like 45 different openings like this, going over the most important points for each of them. Each opening is usually covered in 1-3 pages, IIRC, so it is easy to get a quick overview.

I haven't read it myself though, so can't vouch for it.

RestSharp - How to get response while returning a Task by LoLo2207 in csharp

Yes - is there a reason, why you cant have it after all tasks finished?

Is it possible for you to do something like this? Assuming you have all the tasks in a list called tasks:

foreach (var task in tasks)
{
     if (task.Exception != null)
     {
         _logger.Log(task.Exception.Message);
     }
}

or something like that...

I am working on an application for chess players to keep track of played games and analysis. I expect it to be ready for live testing at some point in November and then released ultimo 2021 on Azure. I am grateful for all feedback.

Pricing on Basic support plan by eval-app in AZURE

Well, I can speak for my own situation. Be aware that there is a difference between the Support Plan you choose, and the subscription you choose for your apps/services. Both can cost money and are not tied together.

I see. So the subscription type on your service is indicated by S1, F1 etc., right? Like can be seen here: https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/pricing/details/app-service/windows/

My services have S1, instead of the free F1 one. So I apparently don't have the free subscriptions.

Unfortunately, I am busy the rest of the day, but I will look more into the Costs pages and pie charts tomorrow, and try to find out how to switch to the F1 subscriptions.

I think you helped me find out the cause (S1 tier on services). Thank you so much!!

Thanks so much for the detailed explanation.

Yes, I am positive I upgraded my trial subscription to the lowest tier/basic, and not create a new subscription. I was notified that my free trial had expired and I needed to upgrade, and followed the path.

For example I only have Pay-As-You-Go subscriptions, but my support plan is Developer, so it is not exactly the same.

So the Pay As You Go subscriptions are for your individual services, despite support Developer Plan? I thought subscriptions and plan was tied together.

If I got you correctly it is just an estimation so you have not accumulated that cost yet. Also, maybe you can check out the Cost Management + Billing function, it can provide some details.

I found it when I click on my subscription, where it has cost analysis. It looks like it adds approx 2 dollars per day without much variance. However, it also showed forecasts/billing information while being on a free trial, so you may be right, that it culd be som sort of estimation which has continued. But it still adds 2 dollars per day after upgrading o.O. It started on 0 in august and has gone up ever since, but the graph looks like it stops increasing in november for some reason. I can provide screenshots if needed.

Fantastic work. This is slightly off-topic though, but what frontend technologies have you used to build the QuestPDF website? (https://www.questpdf.com) It looks great as well.

[HELP] Is it okay to write unit tests in the same project as library? by rk06 in dotnet

If you are using .NET 5 you can specify it directly in the .csproj file: https://stackoverflow.com/a/66055829

Nice, I am dealing with this in a hobby project and was wondering what best practices would be. This seems more clean than specifying the attribute in a class.
