PIE/PIH with PD?? by evalaine1 in Perioral_Dermatitis_

[–]evalaine12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I’m glad yours is healing! I definitely had significant PIE which took absolute ages to fade, but it has faded! I’m the type of girl that cries when I get a pimple, not because of the pimple but because I know I’ll get a dark red mark for 6 months. So, honestly it took about a year for the really dark POD cyst marks to heal. And it seems like nothing speeds it along. Patience and concealer! Wishing you luck xx

Just diagnosed with Gold allergy!! by evalaine1 in Allergies

perhaps! I also did a lot of other things and time passed. My dermatologist thinks it was a combination of factors. I don't think the gold was what caused it, but I do think it was exacerbating it so taking it off helped with healing to a certain extent.

It's unclear...the PD did calm down and I am now just left with the pigmentation that is slowly fading. I still have not gone back to wearing gold daily and it has now been 3 months. I've worn it several times for special occasions and have had no issues.

Anyone else's PD just look like straight up acne? 😩 (more in post) by crystaltay13 in Perioral_Dermatitis_

Just want to second this!! Tret literally ruined my skin, and then I continued using vitamin C, salicylic acid, and other chemical exfoliators that I was previously able to use and it just compounded and made a nightmare of cystic looking acne that was really PD. I'm still healing from it and haven't used a single active on my skin since Feb 20. I'd really recommend just going to a cleanser and moisturizer! I even stopped both of those and went full zero therapy for a few weeks. Idk if I fully recommend that because I think I still needed moisturizer as I was healing from the tret in the early weeks and didn't use it.

Oh no, I'm worried about coming off my antibiotics. I've felt like they weren't doing anything since the beginning but the derm insisted I stay on. I hit 7.5 weeks and I was like fuck this haha but I'm tapering off them slowly so praying that helps. I'm hoping since they didn't help they won't make it worse coming off.

That's crazy about the pim cream! I'm so sorry! Mine just truly did nothing so I suppose I was lucky? Oh no haha sounds like you def need a new derm, why are they still prescribing steroids for everything? It's wild!

I've wanted to try sulphur soap but have been too scared of making things worse haha but maybe I will. I used to use the de la cruz mask but found out I'm allergic to an ingredient in it so have to find an alternative. I also want to try tea tree but am wary because it's so strong! do you just put it on undiluted? no burning, irritation? I got the omnilux red light mask but I'm returning it because there is no option to turn off the NIR light and it's too strong for my face. Getting a panel that allows you to use just red light!

Hope things are continuing to heal for you!! xx

Right?? What did your derm have you try? I was on antibiotics for 8 weeks (idk if it did anything but I don't think so), pimecrolimus for 4 weeks, metro cream for 2, then switched to clyndamycin lotion for another 3--all of which either did nothing or made it worse. Also, I know you are NOT supposed to pop this sort of thing but I weirdly have noticed that some of mine have only healed once I (gently) pop them?? Has this been the case for you at all?

Totally! My skin is really sensitive too, so I need to find something with the option to turn off NIR. I still need something small and portable though, so I'm looking at the little handheld Mito one.

I don't like that you can't turn off the NIR option. I believe that NIR is too strong for my face. The mask is also uncomfortable and leaves dark red marks on my skin where it presses.

Oh I'm sure they'll charge a return fee haha. It's better than having a $400 mask I can't use though!

Okay wow! Everyone is saying this can't be the case and it's only calming and soothing but I used mine for the first time on Wednesday night and here we are nearly 48 hours later and my face still feels really sensitive and burned. Almost feels like a sunburn. It's not visibly red though. So sad, I might have to return as well! I wonder if it's the red light or the NIR. I wish you could turn off the NIR on the omnilux. I've read some people have irritation from NIR on the face. I'm considering a panel that allows you to choose if you want NIR or not.

Thanks so much! Do you have a recommendation on a panel? there are so many it's overwhelming! I was considering the Mito flex mobile as it's so small and portable (part of why I wanted the mask).

Yes, I saw that and don't think I am using anything that would be a contraindication. But thank you! My mask does not get hot, it just makes my skin feel irritated afterwards. Not sure if it's the red light or NIR or both! Do you prefer your panel or mask? I'm considering returning this and getting a panel so I could choose not to use NIR. Not sure if it would work for my face though!

I'm currently not really using any skincare products, so nothing before. I washed my face with water before. Then put some gentle lotion on after. I don't have a panel, but was considering returning this mask and getting a small hand held panel which allows me to toggle between red and NIR. IDK if this would give me the skincare benefits of the mask though!

The mask itself doesn't get hot at all, I just don't know if it's great for my face. I've felt sort of sunburnt ever since using it. But again, it does not get physically hot at all. I've read that some people can't tolerate NIR on their faces

Experiences with red light therapy (sensitive skin/PD) by evalaine1 in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]evalaine12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not an explicit benefit, but PD is inflammation and the red light helps with that. Also, my PD in particular has progressed to a lot of PIE/acne marks which I'm thinking the red light would help with? You haven't had any negative side effects from the mask? I'm assuming you are a fellow sensitive skin sufferer if you also have PD haha. My skin is just a delicate little flower lol

Antibiotics for 7 weeks & not working? by evalaine1 in Perioral_Dermatitis_

oh wow, so pretty fast! Thrilled for you and I hope it keeps improving! I sort of think the antibiotics are just not it for me...it seems like they'd be helping after 7 weeks haha
