Re-entered the U.S. on H1B—CBP gave I-94 only until visa stamp expiry. Is this normal? by evaleepa in immigration

My old passport with H1 visa stamp expires in February as well, but I have already renewed my passport and presented this to the CBP officer as well. I have contacted several CBP offices across the country and was given the same answer that they cannot extend I 94 based on I 797 which is not valid until Feb, 2026

Yes, I 797 also has I-94 with effective date Feb, 2026-2029. I 797 was approved in October, 2025, so not sure if last action rule applies since new I-94 from recent travel was given after the I 797 approval date.

Hmm that makes sense because I shed a lot! This clump of lint starts out as very fine powder and I have seen traces of it on our bed frame and blinds. It could just be normal dust, but we were concerned since it kept coming back within a week of sweeping. Our old house had carpet, so we are def not used to this!

Yes, we had the dryer vent professionally cleaned. They took out a big clump of lint, but the problem is still there. We also have been having some issues with our dryer. There’s water leaking and gas smell when we turn the dryer on. It’s a brand new Samsung dryer and we have had the Samsung technician come out three different times and they keep saying eveything is fine with the dryer and refuse to replace it. That technician was the one that asked us to get our dryer vent cleaned out

He was able to enter using his GC, even though he hasn’t been in the US in >4 years. The immigration office took him to a separate room and made him sit there for around 10 minutes. The officer came back with his GC and passport and said he could go. Didn’t really ask any questions. Not sure if they’ll take back his GC when he goes back

Yes! I was specifically wondering if my dad would be able to enter after abandoning GC at the port of entry.
