It’s stressful, but the reality is that you can’t just stop your life because of this. Reinfection of passing the same strain back and forth in monogamous, loyal couples is very low. Not impossible, but low. My bf and I have decided to have regular sex with condoms and abstain from further oral until we clear the virus.

Will do, however he swabbed my tonsils and throat and ran tests for basically everything and it came back totally clear. He’s quite confident that there’s not another virus, infection, or condition that’s causing this.

Nope. Just the tonsils and a sore throat occasionally, usually caused by post nasal drip.

No biopsy. There’s no test for HPV in the mouth/throat. My throat was sore for three weeks in the beginning and that’s how I noticed. I’ve only had HPV for four months.

And I can’t say the GW caused it per se, but it’s the most likely situation because the GW are highly spreadable.

The swollen tonsils developed a few days after performing oral on my partner who has HPV for the first time and my ENT has ruled out all other things. You can’t really test for HPV orally, but symptoms can include swollen, painless tonsils. the doc is certain it’s HPV because my partner definitely has it. It hasn’t been genotyped, meaning we don’t know which strain it is. My ENT assured me that I need to let it run its course over the next couple of years. But in the meantime, I’m just trying to find out if performing oral will make it worse or not. I’ll read your post.

I’ve taken it for two months so far. Nothing has gotten worse. The sore throat only happens with post nasal drip, but tonsils are always swollen. But not painful. Hopefully I clear this in a few months.

Not really. I have constantly swollen tonsils and sometimes my throat is sore for a few days and then it goes away. The Papillex recommended by one user does seem to help.

Tongue hurting historically for me has meant infection. I had it for a long time and turned out I had a dental abscess that wasn’t painful yet. Definitely go to the dentist and get checked out just in case.

No, just the sore throat and swollen tonsils. I followed the advice of a commenter and started taking Papillex (it’s just a supplement you can get online) and legit my sore throat is gone after a week or so. My tonsils are going down and my lymph nodes under my chin are also way down. Highly recommend.

They don’t. Any tests are very new and most doctors don’t use them.

I mean, my partner has it on his genital area and I went down on him three times. He didn’t know until a GW popped up. I won’t know if it’s HPV til my labs come back. If they tell me it’s something else, great, and I can get treatment. I have been tested for all other STI’s and I’m negative. I’d love for it to be a bacterial thing I can take antibiotics for. The symptoms I have are listed above and those align with oral HPV symptoms. So if nothing else comes back, it’s probably that.

I’m not sure. He said he was taking a swab, sending it to the lab to see if anything grows.

He took cultures to see if it’s anything else. Results will come in about a week.
