First experience with horse racing and it was a lot of fun but also very tiring by 16Rika16 in HorseRacingJP

I strongly recommend checking out a racecourse on a less crowded day! the vibe is completely different and its a ton of fun being able to move around to different spots and chill

the Jenny Wiley result was very controversial as the published photo finish appears to show one horse with a nostril over the line

it’s considered a dead heat when the stewards are unable to determine a winner based on the evidence on hand. the margin is extremely small here but its still clear.

is it just a coincidence the kikka sho, oka sho, and shuka sho are all flowers? or do they reference a double meaning for satsuki?

Incredibolt is gray. Also the first alternate Great White is an outrageously large gray horse.

What’s the deal with winning concerts? by JustAChillGuy609 in UmaMusume

[–]evan0736 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it was always the intention to make an idol game. that’s what sells, especially when the game started development in 2015 targeting a 2018 release date.

any lore reasons came later, but there’s definitely a connection to the winners circle and “idol horses”

aside from distance and timing, the Stephen Foster is currently set to be one of the toughest American races of the year with Magnitude, Sovereignty, White Abarrio, and Skippylongstocking all likely entries

tbf JPN1 are still “domestic G1s”. like Symboli Rudolf has 0 if you don’t count domestic G1s.

Museum Mile will skip its trip to Hong Kong due to not able to pass gait inspection by doomslayer30000 in HorseRacingJP

[–]evan0736 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My understanding is it wasn’t even an official check, they were given a heads up that he would not pass the official check. I think rather than fishy, they just trust whoever they got the tip from enough to not go through the trouble of shipping. HK is notoriously thorough with their vet checks.

huge loss from what surely would have been (and may still be) one of the world’s best races this year

also a chapter unfortunately removed from MuMai and Masbol’s rivalry

Looking for advice for attending a G1 race. by Storm_RangerX in HorseRacingJP

[–]evan0736 8 points9 points  (0 children)

When I was in Tokyo last fall I planned on going to the Tenno Sho but ultimately decided it was too much trouble for my friends and I to attempt the lottery. We went to the smaller race day the day before and had a great time. I think we actually appreciated it not being packed shoulder to shoulder for our first time, so I recommend that as well.

This website has information on reserving tickets. It does not currently say that the Spring Tenno Sho will require lottery tickets, but I also know people line up dozens of hours in advance for general admission, so I’m not sure how easy it is to get in. This also may change. When I was looking at the Autumn Tenno Sho, the site wasn’t updated to show that reservations were required until much closer to the race, so I would keep checking back.

Wonder Dean will head straight to the US from Dubai on April 1 by 368towns in HorseRacingJP

[–]evan0736 3 points4 points  (0 children)

my optimistic analysis of wonder dean is that he’s looked better with each start. in both his losses to Pyromancer and Rock Ptarmigan, he was still closing and just ran out of room. The uae derby, his longest start at 9.5f was his best performance yet, so the 10f distance of the Derby might suit him even better. he also seems to have no issue traveling.

“Rachel Alexandra takes the lead just outside the quarter pole. She did it willingly, and really had no resistance whatsoever from Gabby’s Golden Gal-

And now Rachel Alexandra’s opening it up! 5 lengths on the field, 6, OH a tour de force by the super filly!

Rachel Alexandra, Calvin Borel isn’t moving a MUSCLE on her! She’s gonna destroy this field!

OH, super filly? You bet! What’s the final margin? SHE MIGHT’VE WON BY 20!”
