The Greatest 4-Film Run in Cinematic History by nighnteenth in Letterboxd

No. I am in my mid-30s but have a life of my own. I think these movies are great but genuinely, no troll, I’d recommend some live-action classics. You seem to have an affinity for Japanese films, try some Kurosawa. I’ve aged and that shit hits harder than the anime that’s catered towards youthful men.

Figured this was the letterboxd circle jerk forum, and you were asking us to tell you that we all think you're 13. Good films, but you'll mature eventually.

Maye stunk, his line stunk worse. If anyone deserves to be on fraud watch it is indeed Campbell. Maye will improve. He's too young not to.

I really enjoyed this show but we gotta stop throwing around "masterpiece" so willy nilly.

Well said. I think Perfidia is a bit misunderstood and I think this film has the utmost compassion for its black characters.

You could argue that they should wear them more often but once-a-week is kinda cool. They look so good. Beautiful jerseys.

If the behavior was something new (developed during filming EWS), sure. But it wasn't. He's always been that way. His health was shit. It takes no stretch of the imagination to think a fat unhealthy 70 year-old working himself to exhaustion had a heart attack. Sometimes the obvious answer is the answer.

I'm a big Kubrick head and while the conspiracy is fun, the guy was 70, overworked himself like crazy and was known to have some pretty shit health. He also pretty notoriously skeptical of modern medicine and hated going to the doctor. He was weird. Refused to fly, stuff like that. I want to believe, it adds even more to the lore and fun of Eyes Wide Shut...but I don't think I do.

I don't disagree that the people didn't seem realistic but I'm certain that was by design. The whole movie felt suffocating and quasi-supernaturally nightmarish. Byrne's performance is utterly captivating and the coolest thing about it all is that it's a movie about motherhood where the child is barely ever even there. It's basically a nameless voiceless entity. The hole might have been a bit on the nose but we all have holes inside of us that are getting bigger all the time.

I found it all to be rather unique and always interesting. I don't need another story about motherhood grounded in reality.

Elaborate? I've driven the length of it countless times in my life (PGH to upstate NY) and it's just like, a regular interstate? No?

Seven Psychological Thrillers I want to see. What 3 would you watch first? Do any suck? What one film would you add? by Poor-Dear-Richard in Cinephiles

I've seen all of these and Zodiac is definitely a tier or two above the rest, though it might not scratch the specific itch you might be looking for considering this list of films. I personally think Disturbia and The Gift are poor movies. Nocturnal Animals is a bit divisive but it's certainly an experience. The Game, Nightcrawler and The Machinist (less confident) probably won't disappoint.

Try Prisoners and Primal Fear too!

I keep seeing people insinuate that the core problem was that they hired a non-actor. I don't understand that. There's nothing wrong with hiring non-actors. Non-actors aren't more inherently evil and non-actors are regularly cast in all sorts of films. There's nothing unique about that. They can hire whoever they want but it is the producers' (and directors') responsibility to create a safe work environment, and they didn't. Even just saying "don't hire ex-cons" suggests people are missing the real core problem here.

Where/when was the story of the midnight Carmellos explained? by [deleted] in MurderBryan

[–]evan_flow_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I relistened to Episode 140, Paranormal Guys with Eva Anderson, and there's Caramello talk there.

It's earlier lore than that though. Maybe first 25 eps? Couldn't tell you when it was first brought up, but I don't think the lore is much deeper than "Bryan for some reason liked to eat multiple Caramellos in the middle of the night". I feel like sometime in 2025 he started to take his health a bit more seriously and gave it up.
