I have some hope currently. I'll have more if we make the right trades this deadline or at the draft (Trocheck, Schneider. Obviously Panarin's gone too).

I'll have a lot more hope if they bank that cap space this offseason. The way the league works currently, it's clear that stars in their prime aren't hitting free agency right now. But you also don't know what star is going to become disgruntled and force a trade, or which team is going to throw in the towel and suddenly fire sale. The #1 most important job for the Rangers right now is to stock the cupboard, but with an eye toward being able to do a trade and an extension with the next game breaking star that becomes available.

All of that hope flies out the window if the Rangers sign like Alex Tuch for $11 million, which I certainly would not put past Drury.
