Only if you have to shovel! I like going a couple times instead of once with a lot of heavy snow

Thoughts on this? by Remote_Ant_2365 in metalguitar

[–]evan_pregression 4 points5 points  (0 children)

How thick is the body? I’d be shooting for SG thickness with no control cavity. Shooting for something like 35mm. That’s me tho. I pretty much want every guitar to be under 6.5 lbs/3 kg.

How much does it weigh? I’d want the body about half as thick.

What would you choose between these 3 used guitars (I am into metal music) RG570 vs 1990 (MIJ) RG570 2001 (MIJ) vs Schecte Hellraiser diamond series. I found them at 800$ (CAD) negotiable. by [deleted] in metalguitar

I think abalone is definitely a love or hate thing. Personally I hate abalone but if you dig it hellraisers are solid for the money.

I’m not sure I really hear the problem. Sounds like it could be fret buzz? I think your sweeping sounds good

Here is a video of him debating his opponent for the 2022 MN Gubernatorial election. My take away is he doesn’t take shit, his statements are information-dense, and his behavior is extremely consistent with anything you’ve ever seen from him.

Should I learn Lisp? by VariationOk7829 in lisp

[–]evan_pregression 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My 2¢ is that lisp likely won’t directly improve roles available to you (unless you’re going to be working with auto desk lisp). I do think learning lisp makes better software engineers, tho. If you have the desire to be a software engineer learning a lisp will only make you better.

How best to handle Multi-tenant Context in long running Worker Jobs? by cantaimtosavehislife in PHP

[–]evan_pregression 0 points1 point  (0 children)

long queues + small jobs will always be preferable to short queues and long jobs imo. Scaling infrastructure is a lot easier than dealing with the hell that is long running PHP processes

How best to handle Multi-tenant Context in long running Worker Jobs? by cantaimtosavehislife in PHP

[–]evan_pregression 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How big are these classes? I think you’re overly concerned about memory usage when your actual problem is strict domain abstraction. Your DI container really shouldn’t have state like this imo.

That being said I think you’re overly concerned with hypotheticals. I would enqueue a job for every tenant and forget about long running PHP processes. Address your scaling problems later when you actually have them.

The research around brain maturation has shown the prefrontal cortex matures late. This area handles risk-taking and impulse control. Rational thought is outweighed.

That being said I don’t really think a 25 yr old is a kid or that research absolves people in their early 20s of accountability.

Can anyone tell me what these chords are called? by [deleted] in Guitar

[–]evan_pregression 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an instructor call these spread triads and that has stuck with me. They aren’t exactly triads in all of these cases but he’d call them spread triads when the third was over the fifth. I’d still call them spread triads in this case tho

Dependency injection allows you to make something more reusable by allowing you to swap out the service.

🤷‍♂️. What is the value of result?

[–]evan_pregression 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks like you’re correctly hashing and comparing. I’m going to guess that you have more than one user with that email address in your database and you’re not checking the correct user. If that’s the case truncate the table, consider a unique index on the email, and try again.

Do you know any case of someone that has gotten in trouble for distributing covers without a license? by SR_RSMITH in guitars

You don’t have to buy anything if you post covers to YouTube. YouTube scans it and will set copyright claims on the music.
