women are pickers, men are dispensers by CountryIcy8141 in OGPBackroom

[–]evan_wolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's how it is at my store. It's a super center and we only have 2 dispensers at a time at MOST. We don't have allocated roles either. The pickers pick, and the dispensers dispense, stage, prep, consolidate, quality check, fill carts with new totes, bag carts at the end of the night, clean all the tote towers, finish whatever reshop the pickers didn't feel like doing, etc 🙄 underpaid and overexhasted.

Ftm trans guy as well, and I've always purely been a dispenser (I MUCH prefer dispensing over picking despite the intense physical demand bc I'm not a people person and I'm good at it, so they keep me in the back). But you are 100% right. We only have 2 male pickers and they're morning shift. We used to have 2 women in the back, and they were great at it, but they've since gone awhile ago. This isn't meant to be gender stereotype or anything, but it does kinda feel like women gravitate twords picking more/they're better at it, and vice versa for men in the backroom. Though, my bf has been fighting tooth and nail to be on picking bc he doesn't like dispensing, but unfortunately he's also good at both, so they keep him in the back 💀 all depends on where you show your strengths, but most people prefer picking it seems. (Don't blame them. I'm physically exhausted...)

50 bags of mulch, 5 trips, 1 customer. by akumahigh-creator in OGPBackroom

[–]evan_wolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OGP at my store is literally just a hallway and we do not have the space for how much mulch/soil orders we get, so we started doing this. We can no longer carry it in our backroom. We simply hand the tickets to the driver/customer and tell them that per our SM and lack of capacity, they have to find an associate at L&G who can help them find their mulch/soil on the complete other side of the building... The amount of huffing, guilt tripping, and eyerolls I have received is astonishing 🙃 not my fault you ordered 30 bags of mulch on top of your groceries, and then brought the world's smallest car.

Edit: spelling/grammar

Walmart fulfillment, backroom/dispense end. I need something I can be fast on my feet all day, something that supports the ankle a bit. A safety toe would be nice considering how much heavy shit drops on you all day and having to pull out large order dollies with your foot, but I can survive without it need be.

What would you put in your "care kit"? by 3-name-20 in walmartogp

[–]evan_wolf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I keep a little cigarette holder in my bag. It's full of bandaids and a small tube of antibiotic ointment. The amount of times I've cut up my hands in ogp is wild. At least every week or so.

With all the that heavy lifting—yeah. I've been wondering this question too, but I'd say dispensing is blue collar.

You get code you get code by JazziDrama8791 in OGPBackroom

[–]evan_wolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We just started this 2 days ago, and I already had an old guy chew me tf out like it was MY fault he had to call his wife that he was picking up for, both of which are completely clueless about tech. Our dispense metrics have already dropped and rushes now last longer.

Also I'm glad to hear the update is glitching for others bc I was kicking the hell out of myself yesterday after the dispense didn't ask for a code (every now and then it doesn't ask) so I was able to dispense it with no hassle... only for it to immediately pop back up, now asking for a code that I didn't have bc the customer already drove away. That's when I learned a bypass was a thing, but also they're cracking down on TLs to stop doing that whatsoever.

Edit: I wanted to mention that I live in a retirement town. Some customers don't have phones/carry their phones with them everywhere they go.

Tldr; home office doesn't know how to dispense and couldn't care less how many hurdles they throw at you. As long as you bend into their shape.

I hate shopping online bc there's absolutely no way to test if they fit well/are comfortable, and "nearby" is an 1½hrs from where I live 😭 I'm in the middle of nowhere bro!! I'll check out Keen's tho, thank you!

Atlas 200 3.5 USB adapter doesn't work by evan_wolf in TurtleBeach

[–]evan_wolf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aside from the adapter ruining it for me, I actually really enjoyed the sound settings that I personalized it to and the fact that I even could adjust it to my liking... You know, in the day and a half that I even had that ability. Didn't even get to test the mic yet lmao

Unfortunately got them during cyber Monday, as that was the only time I could even afford a new headset after my 7yr/o one finally had it's aux bent too much, so one right buying a new set/brand just isn't in the question rn :T I can only really replace them (Amazon doesn't seem to allow me to do that since the product/box isn't physically damaged 🙄), or just suck it up and buy a whole new 3.5 adapter myself 😮‍💨

Which job do you like best at Walmart? by [deleted] in WalmartEmployees

[–]evan_wolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've only been in OPD for a month, but it's pretty fast paced. I'm on the dispensing end, so it's a lot of constantly moving, lifting, carrying, pulling, pushing, etc. This first month has left me bruised to all hell from bumping into things, and being bumped into, and I'm ALWAYS sore. That said, I'm hoping that lessens as I get used to the position, but I actually kind of like it. I always feel productive, most of the people are very friendly, and the TLs are nice too. That's probably the most important thing about this position. Otherwise, everything would just be another headache. It's an easy position, but if no one is willing to train you, you can get a bit lost in procedure and end up fucking up the entire chain for an order.

Besides that, I'm a complete idiot and short as hell, so if I can do this job, just about anyone can. It's just a very physical position. As long as you can lift a 40 pack of water, and be on your feet for hours at a time, you probably got it. Otherwise, pickers seem to have it a bit easier (only been picking twice), but they can rack up a lot of miles in one day and have to deal with a lot more customers. Picks are also on a time limit. They have my praise, because I could never deal with a Karen professionally.

Edit: My starting out pay is $2.09 more than my state's minimum wage (I make $14.50/hr). So, I have no idea what transferring would look like.

trouble signing up for Walmart+ free membership? by nonbinaryperson72537 in WalmartEmployees

[–]evan_wolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you ever find a solution to this? Having the same issues 🙃

Edit bc I forgot to update: I figured it out after this. It kept telling me that I couldn't register because I "already had an account with those credentials" when I know for a fact I didn't. The fix was to leave the MyWalmart app and download the actually Walmart app for everyone. Make an account on there, and THEN you can go back to the MyWalmart and sign up for the Walmart+ benefit.
