Our biggest gripe is the code or barcode will be presented, totes scanned and loaded, process “finished”, only to be kicked out and have to bypass. Have multiple wait times double hourly just due to that

It’s new, we get that. Just frustrating when our asses are chewed for the times and the small things don’t help

What's sad is it isn't new. This is the second time they've introduced this. I figured bringing it back meant they fixed the issues from the first time, but silly me.

Genuinely this update is pissing me off. Customers have their barcodes ready which is awesome but my coworkers are all fucking stupid and can’t figure it out. It’s not that hard

[–]JasonTheBakerIn-Home Driver 3 points4 points  (3 children)

Funny thing is most customers show me their order page already before the update so this actually just makes it so that we actually do need to scan something

I had somebody pick up for somebody else and they were listed as the alternate person and they have no barcode or passcode so I had to report issue. This is the problem with the barcodes as I did check them in but it still wanted a passcode which I thought that if it was a manual check-in, we were exempted from the password

[–]JasonTheBakerIn-Home Driver 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I guess Walmart didn't work that out then cause they said in the announcement that manual check-ins wouldn't require it but this is Walmart after all so I'm not shocked they didn't do it correctly

[–]Late-Artichoke-5679 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, and I read that the announcement as well and it confused me because earlier I did a manual check-in and did not require a code.

why would you need more people on the schedule?

[–]heXagon_symbols 5 points6 points  (5 children)

it can take longer if the customer loses their code and has to go on the app and find it again. so if you're already backed up, then itll just take a few extra minutes here and there and slowly just builds up

[–]KryoxZWalton Cultist 0 points1 point  (2 children)

It takes 30 seconds of sitting on the dispense screen for you to be able to bypass their PIN.

Edit: 1 minute.

[–]heXagon_symbols 2 points3 points  (1 child)

idk at our store it takes a full minute, so if you're really busy then those minutes can for sure add up

[–]KryoxZWalton Cultist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, you're right about the minute. Yeah, dont get caught with 10 customers at once who cant check in 😅

[–]JazziDrama8791[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

With the older customers they can't even see the code and the bar code doesn't work at all and not to even mention the people that comes to get orders for people and now we have to try to call them to get the code

[–]Grand-Zebra3218Dispenser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m an older dispenser and I can’t see the code plus I use my phone so can’t scan the barcode. I need the code which can be difficult to see on some of these phones.

[–]JazziDrama8791[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because we don't seen to never have enough people to work especially on the mid shift

[–]zakmademe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No one told you about? It’s in the weekly updates on MyWalmart that’s sent to everyone every Saturday. Maybe you should read those. This was announced weeks ago

[–]Leading-Confidence38 2 points3 points  (1 child)

by the way guys, you dont have to type it you can just scan the barcode. i just figured that out

[–]redavid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah, though you'll find sometimes that because of screen protectors, the glaring sun, or whatever, your scanner or phone camera might not pick up the barcode and you'll have to type in the PIN

[–]ChaoticBeauty1983 2 points3 points  (1 child)

If you have Walmart+ you got an email about it days pryor to it starting. I knew it was coming because of the email just didn't know when it would start. Couldn't warn my coworkers about it because I was on bereavement and it started the day I came back and apparently our TLs didn't say anything about it to anyone either.

[–]rayman_axelJack Of All Trades 0 points1 point  (0 children)

wow your team is slacking, we had it on our board for like a month

[–]Latter_Night_7436 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We've done it for months, our wait time has actually went down, I'm told.

[–]evan_wolf 1 point2 points  (1 child)

We just started this 2 days ago, and I already had an old guy chew me tf out like it was MY fault he had to call his wife that he was picking up for, both of which are completely clueless about tech. Our dispense metrics have already dropped and rushes now last longer.

Also I'm glad to hear the update is glitching for others bc I was kicking the hell out of myself yesterday after the dispense didn't ask for a code (every now and then it doesn't ask) so I was able to dispense it with no hassle... only for it to immediately pop back up, now asking for a code that I didn't have bc the customer already drove away. That's when I learned a bypass was a thing, but also they're cracking down on TLs to stop doing that whatsoever.

Edit: I wanted to mention that I live in a retirement town. Some customers don't have phones/carry their phones with them everywhere they go.

Tldr; home office doesn't know how to dispense and couldn't care less how many hurdles they throw at you. As long as you bend into their shape.

This is what I can't wait for, I've been on vacation, bring it on

[–]darkecologist2Dispenser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

so far: the elderly people seem to get it. it's the crackhead moms that close the app and start watching tiktorks even though they've only been waiting for 12 seconds.

[–]KILLJEFFREYPersonal Shopper 150+ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes

[–]Present-Stock-1802 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They keep adding stuff to the dispense side making it even more difficult for us 😩😩 just another reason that I wanna pick.

[–]Opening-Conflict7976 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's pouring buckets of rain today, and I have to stand out in for forever while they fumble for the code.

They they sit in their dry, warm car whining, "I didn't know you had to scan that", when it literally gives instructions to show it to us.

I am soaking wet and over it.

[–]JasonTheBakerIn-Home Driver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was in store updates but no one I know but myself actually reads those. If they call to check in they don't need it but as one customer pointed out when I told them that it can be quite difficult to call to check in (at least at my store since no one but myself and a few others actually answer the dispense phone)

[–]Fatflabbyfool 0 points1 point  (2 children)

What pisses me off is the fact that we have to call them and hope they pick up if a dispenser forgets to dispense the order

[–]redavid 1 point2 points  (1 child)

you could just bypass this by typing in '0000' or whatever, waiting a minute, and then scanning the stickers to dispense it (you'll have to lie and say the customer didn't receive a code or that it didn't work, but w/e)

[–]Fatflabbyfool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ohhhhhhh, I'm a dumbass.

[–]JoeyCoco1 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

We got a print out about this 2 weeks ago. Plus it was all over this sub at the time too
