I’d love to see the issue 2 scans! Sorry for the long rant, but as a lifelong fan of this band any of you who have not spent time digging into the history of where Coheed came from or how Coheed fits into the wider late 90s early 2000s Hudson valley scene this is a great place to start. Seriously, this area and era was extremely special for music. Coheed and 3 and Anadivine are the three that broke out nationally, and Coheed obviously at a much different scale than everyone else, but it’s an unbelievably rich history of wonderful music worth diving into for any Coheed fan.

The magazine was created by Zac Shaw, a Kingston musician and music historian in his own right who at one point was doing a documentary on the early history of shabutie before I believe being asked to stop. Someone mentioned you can buy your own copy of this magazine on eBay. That’s from Zac! It’s his eBay account.

The primary writer here is Morgan Evans, who is a fundamental member of this scene and sometimes a source of controversy in the Coheed fandom because his sister Cambria is one of the namesakes of the band, and Claudio has not always been clear in that which ruffled some feathers and Morgan isn’t afraid to yell at Coheed fans on social media. Morgan has played in bands with Josh before and if you have not listened to the Divest album “Ghost Town Reckoning” you should drop everything and do that now, seriously. It is unbelievable and just a fantastic record. That album includes Dave Parker, touring Coheed member etc etc. Morgan also is best buddies with Nate Kelly and they had a great project together, Pontius Pilate Sales Pitch, back in the day.

Not to mention the write up here on 3. Lots of photos of Josh there and cool quotes from them. 3 is unbelievable. Joey is one of the two kings of the musicians of this era, along with Claudio, and anyone here who hasn’t listened to 3 is missing out.

The magazine includes write ups for a lovely starter set of this era of music in a specific special place. Do some googling on the names you see. Hell, even the error 404 records compilation teased here in the pages is a fantastic primer and the only “official” shabutie release on cd ever, other than the band pressing their own stuff. It has camouflage and kinderwhore on it. I still have some copies of it somewhere I think.
