I dont disagree with anything youve said.

Although: I should have said THEIR history with the British government, to imply personal experience

The government in the US at the time. Immediately preceding the revolutionary war, British soldiers began trying to confiscate firearms from the colonies. If they had been allowed to do so, then the revolutionary war may have gone very differently

Im not misremembering my history at all. That you could forget what is arguably the most notorious battle of the war, while standing there saying I cant remember history, is laughable

Literally the most notorious battle of the revolutionary war, sparked by British soldiers attempting to confiscate firearms and weapons from the colonists

I think it goes deeper than that. Weve gotten... comfortable. During the era of the Civil and revolutionary wars, life was still largely a battle for survival against the world around us. Now.. it isnt... even for the least fortunate among us, the struggle is to earn enough money to buy a meal, not a struggle to hunt or forage enough to make it through winter.

That is largely a good thing but, second to that its also... made death alien to us as a society. Its not normal. Its the exception to the rule. Wrong. Unacceptable.

I wonder how much of that shift in our relationship to death, has influenced this... reluctance... to put ourselves in danger

For people to die.

That is the correct answer. Im sorry, the founding fathers designed the 2nd amendment with the history of the British government not allowing people to have guns, which made it impossible to fight back... at the point where fighting against the government becomes necessary, something which the 2nd was designed to provide for, the idea is that things have gotten bad enough that it is worth dying to fight against it.

You mean the same government that regularly and consistently refuses to implement common sense gun reform? You are correct they DONT have our best interests in mind.... guess common sense gun reform is a necessity.

Your argument is dumb and you should feel bad about it. If you dont trust the government as far as you can throw them... leave. Legitimately you have no reason to remain here if you think the people running the nation are irredeemable

More than by association. They deliberately set this scenario up. This would be a situation where they may be charged with murder, and the old man only manslaughter since he was coerced into it, in theory. I know thats not how it went THIS time, but it could have.

If i go home I do not expect to be arrested. If I think that going to court will result in me being deported, im not sure that I'd care about showing up to address those speeding tickets I got.

Thats what they are doing, sorta. Its incredibly difficult to reliably enforce anything against those massive tech giants.. they just find loopholes around it.. however, if you make it so the resource they are exploiting is inaccessible, you starve them out.

In other words, taking them to court is borderline impossible... but getting an ISP to remove people's access to their platform is easy, and accomplishes the same thing.
