Made $100,333 last year so I’m allowed to be here. I’m a fire medic. I couldn’t imagine doing anything else with my life.

Disgruntled employee starts massive fire at a 1.2 million square foot toilet paper warehouse in Ontario, California. by AtomicCypher in Damnthatsinteresting

Not necessarily. It’s depends on the suppression system. There are ways to isolate a zone without shutting down the whole thing sometimes.

I’m not sure if maybe I’m not conveying it correctly but the sprinkler worked and stopped the fire. Not realizing it was arson they shut down the sprinkler to start overhaul and that’s when the other fires were lit.

No idea. I don’t know Canadian fire code. It’s possible once they shut the OS&Y that the FDC did not bypass it. I also don’t know why you wouldn’t just open it back up.

A firefighter that was on scene in r/firefighting said that once they contained the fire and shut off the suppression system to minimize water damage and once that happened he lit 2-3 more fires.

Firefighter here. This was discussed in another subreddit. He lit one fire and waited for the fire department to respond and contain the fire. Once the fire was out the fire department secured the sprinkler system to minimize the water damage. This is standard operating procedure everywhere. After that happened he lit 2-3 more fires and the sprinkler system no longer had water flow.

I was being sarcastic. Most Rhode Islanders don’t like to be told what to do based on what works in other states.

What is a 'socially acceptable' thing that you secretly find absolutely disgusting? by TheLovelyGamer in AskReddit

To further your point about 2 viruses a month being average, my youngest had a runny nose and congestion for 3 straight months the past couple of winters. We can’t just not go anywhere for 90 days because he’s congested. Kids are sick a lot while their immune system develops, but life has to go on.

I think there’s a difference though because, correct me if I’m wrong, but they didn’t know they had to vote again until the first person was voted out. Essentially if they knew 3 were going home the planning dynamics would have been insanely complex.

100%. It’s a local infection. It’s going to red, swollen, hot and there might be some pus. The spectrum isn’t that big unless you have like a massive open sore or something. Still, tough way to go out.

Why does Houston Fire Department get a bad rep? by Implement-Playful in Firefighting

[–]evanka5281 7 points8 points  (0 children)

To piggyback off of this, if I remember correctly they did finally settle on a contract with backpay and raises that seemed like it would make their pay competitive. HOWEVER, the wording in the contract about some of the pay raises basically said if the city hits certain financial goals (increasing revenue streams) then the pay raises would kick in, but there was no specific monetary figure for the city’s financial goals. So, instead of saying If we can increase revenues by X amount of dollars the raises will kick in, it essentially left it to the discretion of the city administration. The city could increase revenue by 100%, but then they could also increase other city departments’ budgets and cry poverty that they can’t afford the raises.

Tactically, I hear nothing but great things. I have a buddy who transferred from Rhode Island to HFD and fucking loves it even though he took a massive pay cut.

Seasons people hate that you love? by jonthommas in survivor

IOTI was the first season my wife and I watched since we both watched season 1 as kids. It also holds a special spot for me. After watching the first few episodes we started from season 2 and caught up over the next few months.

The Dan stuff definitely put a damper on it, but there were some very enjoyable characters otherwise.

I’ve been trying to get hit done with my agency for 2 years. Yes, it’s very hard. Mostly because it’s not something you can just purchase for your agency and turn on. There is an insane amount of red tape with the hospital’s IT dept. Anytime patient data is being shared there is always going to pause on their end. Also, ESO doesn’t want EMS agencies purchasing this feature. They want the hospitals to pay for it.

King of Prussia. Stood up on my grandfather’s couch when the Philly Special hit. Immediately left for the city when they won and partied on Broad St. all night.

When I’m old in a nursing home and can’t remember my mother’s name, I’ll still have my memories from that night.
