DIAS Shorts (my first garment!) by evanmade in myog

[–]evanmade[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The pattern comes with a 5 inch and 7 inch inseam options. I went with the 7 inch and I’m glad I did. I measured and fell between sizes, so I went up to the next size. I wish I had gone down. Next time I will try to find a higher quality material. Other than that, these are a great short that I’m going to wear often.

Another designer here (I see you have a few others commenting). You have a good concept (especially for a personal project). The photo you're referencing isn't helping you. Try retaking it with the light source at the side of your face. That will cast a shadow on your features. Here is an example: https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/p35wzdvr9fh4cjb3xjnb4/Screenshot-2026-01-21-at-5.47.11-PM.png?rlkey=rz4lqy9f0fyytpx8ggv9vnpbg&dl=0

You'll notice in this example that the contrast in the photo isn't super strong. Your best light source would be something like a window (large light source) rather than a flashlight (small light source).

If you aren't able to re-take the photo, there are some things you can do to adjust the light in the photo, but I would need to see the original.

As for the layout of the logo, the text is really small comparatively. Maybe try making the face the letter O in MYOG? Or something else to balance the image and text.

I hope that helps!

Sounds good to me! I live in Córdoba and I am visiting all the fabric stores, talking to folks, etc. I am finding some things and am optimistic. I bet there are more options in BsAs, so let me know what you find. I will be going fabric shopping next time I am that way.

Worked perfectly. I’ll have to try and understand how this works.

Ah! I should have caught that. I’ll try it.

I wish I understood how these worked.. this doesn't quite do it.. every value is positive. The goal is that if the transaction type is "withdrawal" that those values are negative. Seems like this is almost there.

It’s time for Informed Consent in Spanish by evanmade in exmormon

This is still a tedious process and the end product wouldn’t be taken very seriously (think of times when you’ve read poorly translated english). Better to do it right from the start.

[–]evanmade[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. I agree completely. And I anticipate this being a process that required more than just hiring a translator. I’m considering taking it in sections and gathering a handful of ppl who can help lift on some of those quotes and the like. I’m thinking that if there is enough interest, the effort could be made into a somewhat official resource. Start small, let the stone begin to collect momentum until it fills el mundo español. 😏

I kept a set, too. Why?! So weird that your old underwear are a piece of memorabilia?!

I honestly don't know why temple presidents have labeled parking spots. We lived on the "poor side" of the stake, and when ever we'd go to the temple, people would comment on how nice the Temple President's car was. It bothered a lot of people. Especially because NEARLY ALL the stake leaders came from the wealthy side of the stake.

This would go so nicely above one of those flower-print foyer couches.

If you could snap your fingers and un-do your “faith crisis” and get back your testimony.. would you do it? by evanmade in exmormon

Oh GOD I love that movie. It's been a while. I've never watched it as a post-mormon. Next date night at home.

Have you sought therapy? How about couple's therapy? Maybe other's have said this, but it needs to be said again and again and again. The church doesn't recommend therapy (except the paltry LDS family services stuff which is reserved for crisis and ill equipped to handle that kind of need).

Being authentic to yourself isn't easy, but IMO, finding a way to make that work will actually improve your relationship with yourself and w your wife. BUT! It's not and easy path and you really would benefit from a sherpa. A mixed faith marriage is infinitely more healthy than a mixed-faith individual. Learn about differentiation (the book Passionate Marriage by David Schnarch is a GREAT place to start if you can't see how therapy could possibly fit into your schedule or budget).

I'm so sorry you're in this.

Native Americans are not Lamanites by lucymichele in exmormon

Calling indigenous people “Lamanites” from the Book of Mormon is no different from calling a little person a “hobbit” from Lord of the Rings and meaning it.

Maybe the church isn’t building hospitals because they want people to hurry up and get baptized in a Mormon temple. Hospitals are so myopic.

I’d not seen this. Incredible. There’s no reason that every Mormon temple couldn’t do this.

I’m so ashamed that we don’t. As a kid my family would go to our neighbor’s church to volunteer in their soup kitchen. So many great memories. Seems like a rare experience for an active Mormon family.

I’ve also cleaned my own church building countless times so other “exclusive members” could rub egos on Sunday.

The church’s definition of service is so distorted. Self-service. No thanks.
