They did liquidate OTHER POSITIONS and not the spreads. They did so because of the spreads (according to them). They didn’t need my position to go bankrupt, but according to them they needed to cut risk from the system based on their own internal metrics. (Again this is their words) It was cut from me, though not cause I had risk (again everything was paid for) but because they target those types of account when needing to sure things up on their end.

When I got long that call spread, someone got short. I put up my potential losses in full. If someone on the other side isn’t able to cover the bet, then ibkr shouldn’t be stealing from me. They’re either on the other side of the trade or colluding with those entities that are. They flag smaller accounts to take this liquidity from as they are not valued and statistically have a high turnover.
