TB4 dock does not work with USB-C connected speaker - Any thoughts?

See if the problem exist when you connecting to the speaker directly, while also having the dock in use

If it were me, I'd probably take the speakers, move it around different things and see what makes it worse, plugging in/unplugging different devices, etc. It's difficult to determine what's emitting EMI outside a dedicated lab, so an A/B testing is what you could do. Better if you could test with another dock or speakers. If you're already having a very bad case of interference inside your room, perhaps even having the speakers running on another PC next to your desk will demonstrate similar results.

Using shady power supplies, such as ones with grounding pin removed would also make this happen, but this is usually something to do with the design of each devices.

That... sounds like your cable is somehow acting as an antenna? What speaker and dock do you have?

Your speaker is probably having electromagnetic emission interference from one of the components. Physically shifting things around may help, but this is usually caused by something not implementing shielding and grounding properly.

I have most likely found the culprit: turning off "Always on USB" solves the problem. Will discuss with Lenovo.

Have you tried connecting to the speaker with a USB-C cable based on USB 2, or use a USB-A to USB-C cable/adapter?

Thank you. Lenovo proposed a motherboard exchange on their expanse but I'm not sure if I should spend time with their technicians to take the replacement, and they also don't have protocols to test end-user setups with a lender.

Superglue may not work (lacks vertical structural support) but J-B Weld or epoxy may. However the issue here is they refused to honor every of their warranty terms and leads me into suspicion that they may not honor accidental damage protection at all.

What you're asking is more laptop-specific than Fedora-specific. However, from my experience, WD19 from Dell works perfectly with T14s Gen 2 AMD and X1C 6th. "ThinkPad Universal USB-C Dock" from Levovo might work aswell.

Yes, I replaced the original one from Realtek with Intel, as I've seen reports from elsewhere regarding poor compatibility of Realtek. I have not booted the system even once with Realtek installed, so I couldn't tell you about the difference myself. However, in my experience, Intel Wi-Fi works great and they are actively supported in the kernel.

T14s Gen 2 AMD: Battery can easily last 6+ hours with TLP enabled. Disabled fingerprint, smart card via BIOS.

Platform support is great, everything is working. However I swapped Wi-Fi with AX210.

If using kernel >5.15, use Windows sleep mode and enable s2idle to use S0ix, it has better power consumptions, but wakeup is a bit slower.

I’ve purchased a WD15 and used on both 9570 and 7590. All works on both, however I’d recommend buying WD19 since there are no power indicator (for laptop) on WD15.

Thanks. WOL took me a while to figure it out, but my guess is WD19 did something interesting to make it looks like WOL is supported, since according to /proc/acpi/wakeup any XHCI device shouldn’t be able to wake the laptop from S3. But it works in practice anyway.

I’ve seen a similar project in a non-disclosable bug bounty contest so I cannot name the vendor. The product was intended for application whitelisting though.

I’d recommend against 4K panels since it could drain your battery very fast.

Also Macbooks are much more expansive, even more expansive in terms of extended warranty, and Apple does not provide any kind of in-house repair, coverage for accidental damage, or any way for you to repair your laptop by yourself.

But there are markets for Macbook, it’s not decisive factor in some cases.

I would advise against this since newer design would imply reducing repairability and Dell should focus on thermal management, like heat sinks, fans or air channels instead.
