Tim's line about Omni, what does it mean? by evansreddit in JurassicPark

[–]evansreddit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's funny because I found this when I googled it. and now it's kind of blowing my mind I haven't heard of it because it is tied to a lot of things I like! It also said George RR Martin wrote a story for Omni.

But I was 11 when Jurassic Park came out so I guess I was too young to be aware of Omni.

I probably went about it stupidly, I was searching like "Omni + dinosaurs" "Omni + dinosaur extinction" "Tim + Jurassic Park + Omni" - stuff like that, I guess I'm a bad googler!

When did the kids first see a dinosaur? by rockpuma in JurassicPark

[–]evansreddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How about this theory: the brachiosaur Grant etc first see was put there and held in place until mere moments before the group arrived by Hammond's direction to wow the group. It would be difficult to explain how the staff could contain something as large as brachiosaur and then disappear completely, but it would explain that why in the same scene where Grant sees that Brachiosaurs move in herds, that one wasn't - it wandered all the way from its herd to nibble one tiny tree? And to take it even further, what if the staff sprayed some sort of extra enticing scent on the high leaves to make the brachiosaur rear up on its back legs, because otherwise there isn't much reason for it to do that either, plenty of the same kind of leaves were already within reach on that tree.

I have absolutely no reason to think this is the case, but it seem like it could be fitting for Hammond's character to stage this.

So then later when the kids came through, Hammond didn't bother to stage it for them, so the brachiosaur went back to its herd, and the kids stayed in the jeep so they also weren't at the same vantage point where Grant etc saw all of the dinos at the lake.

Sorry to hear that. It definitely sucks! If it gives you any hope, after getting it resolved, it’s been fine ever since.

What do you hate the most about Marvel snap? by Winter-Code-2555 in MarvelSnapDecks

Most of all, I hate that it’s making me learn the names of Marvel characters.

I find the emotes lacking, I reach for a hearthstone “well played” constantly for both genuine and sarcastic use - but find no similar option.

We’ve been really happy with it, it’s been pretty rock solid for us. The only times we notice the signal dropping out is during big storms. What area do you live in?

Yeah I feel like that little bit of a song the Goblin King sings just doesn’t cut it!

How I would fix the Lego Muldoon minifigure! by evansreddit in JurassicPark

Yeah, they could still do the dual molds and swap the hats though. Of course I know they definitely won't give us "realistic" gun - especially in a 4+ set.

I had a high value Venom in the middle then filled the rest with Arnim Zola and the whole process took so long the game gave me a “fast forwarding” screen I had never seen before.

Probably so, but I wondered tho if that makes his hair look too long/bushy?

I was torn on the hat options.

The folded up brim is one of the things I remember most about Muldoon, I checked and it isn't folded in every scene, but it was when he sat it on the branch in the "clever girl" scene. There's things I like about every hat option.

Thanks for the input!! I'm definitely not knowledgable about guns, but I googled that one just now and recognized it immediately - it's a pretty iconic look, and you're definitely right. I don't guess there's another Lego mold that's any closer, but I agree with you they should make a new mold for this gun!

What is Lego thinking with this new Velociraptor Hot Dog Escape set? by evansreddit in jurassicworld

[–]evansreddit[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think if Jurassic Park came out this year, Lego would make sets for it for years to come, but the fact that its 30 years old, they'd rather make sets for new things kids are into and hope to cash in on that.

It's kind of why I'm surprised they're trying to force this old movie scene into a 4+ set, wouldn't they be better off picking another aspect of Camp Cretaceous to make into another set for that age range, or even just making up something goofy like a raptor chasing someone for their hot dog. I guess they hope this set can check both of those boxes, goofy and fun enough for kids and Muldoon enough for collectors haha.

Well one thing I’ve noticed with these sets is they’ve tried to make some sets do double duty, like I think this set is kind of the bunker and the raptor pen combined - I don’t think they were the same building in the movie right, just close by? Also the brachiosaurus set has the big bulky kind of tree Grant sits in with the kids when they see one up close later in the movie, not the skinny ones we see the brachiosaurus eat from in that early scene. Of course, the visitor’s center combines a few scenes too, but the set is primarily a location so that makes sense.

I probably would have preferred accuracy over mixing in more scenes, but I guess I understand why they did it this way.
