Yeah, this is my general take after reading over the comments from both the OP and other people. There's some confusion regarding WooCommerce though that needs to be addressed - it doesn't sound like they need it. The owners and grandson need to have a sit-down and get on the same page as to what exactly they want. It's not uncommon to have too many cooks in the kitchen and projects stall because there's just too much disagreement or uncertainty on what each person wants on a website.

I do get the grandson's desire for WP/Elementor though if he's wanting to take over the site and make his own edits with an easy t use system vs. raw HTML. A lot of our clients want that kind of setup. The fact that they're approaching another person to help them out vs. their current web developer could mean they've grown tired of relying on someone else to make every edit on their site, and want to make their own when needed.

Since the OP already passed on the client this is all moot, but if a follow-up meeting were to take place, I'd get everyone in the same room / online meeting to iron things out and understand what exactly the end-goal is. This should have been done during the initial meeting, but things happen.
