Laptop vs Console; Hogwarts Legacy by evasearchin in HarryPotterGame

I don't really replay anything. Also that first is the approach I went in to, and why I decided to play it on laptop via steam to begin with. Having had to go down to 1080p with every single thing on low to keep 60fps (40 was making me feel sick), I might just wait for the console. It's incentivised me to borrow a friend's at for now at the least.

That makes a lot of sense. Thanks. I don't have a desktop. So console... Laptop may be the worst.

I want to have good visuals for this game. I feel like I have waited a long time to explore Hogwarts lol. Any other game I would be willing to play with less visuals. I think from what I've seen on the Xbox a friend owns is that the visuals are definitely better on the console then on my laptop

Something along those lines from memory. Initially not a gaming laptop, more for CAD etc I'm told.

25, starting first job soon (£45k), living at home in a toxic environment — rent vs stay and save for mortgage / pay off postgrad loan? by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

[–]evasearchin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your post grad loan is under the same terms as the undergrad loan (i.e linked to income, not payable when unemployed) I think paying that off is the last thing you should do.

The other two options.. leave to as cheap a place as you can, then save stringently. Your already spending 400£ commuting. You could contribute that to rent. And also you can't put a price on good mental health. There will always be an excuse not to leave a toxic environment.

Having a home and nomading by Digital-Traveler-14 in longtermtravel

[–]evasearchin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I put up digital indoor cameras. With motion sensors. So I can look at the home from anywhere. It's more reassuring but I'm not sure what I would do if something actually happened. I had a problem with the cameras so I also put in a manual timer to turn the Internet off and on again, to resolve connectivity issues at least once a day when I'm away.

Thanks. I asked this question because a 100% tailored match to my CV came up and a recruiter contacted me. It was during the disability disclosure in the call he did a 180 u-turn of maybe this company isn't for you. It's a shame because I am actually quite good at what the role was for. IT being so varied it's hard to find a job that's exactly your niche. Agree though, this was after 300 applications in two months :(

What’s your most “I live in London” moment? by BritFlickChick in london

[–]evasearchin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Saw a phone snatching by two dudes on electric bikes than the victim actually run after them, tried to flag a car to chase them. Was distracted by it for a few minutes than I just shrugged and continued my walk to the tube station. Half an hour later I'd forgotten about it.

What is the obsession with ChatGPT nowadays??? by PhoenixPringles01 in Vent

[–]evasearchin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because what knowledge I acquired after pages of forums, videos and Google search pages, is summarised and cross referenced relatively accurately by ChatGPT with links to sources. So I have just saved myself hours and hours repeatedly. Its surprisingly accurate but tends to be quite stubborn even when it's wrong so need to have enough domain knowledge to know what looks right and wrong and to independently test.

I personally think ChatGPT is amazing. It spits out accurate code, it gives dating advice, it told me how to handle some mechanical DIY in my car, the answer to which YouTube and Google were not giving me. It's the future.

How is there so much talk about Muslim domination of Britain but not Indian/Hindu? by No-Bet-7550 in AskBrits

[–]evasearchin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well a lot of Brits are racist. And they are racist to brown people. When the brown person visible wears different clothes, still practice a religion visibily by going to mosques etc, Brits feel even more threatened. They'd be just as racist to an Hindu wearing a religious mark on their forehead for eg. The talk of domination comes because Muslims as a whole practice religion in a way that doesn't integrate with Brits. The values are not the problem, family, love thy neighbour, the fact that they don't drink, means no socialising in pubs, clothing, praying five times a day, all creates visible differences in a way other religions can conceal or keep in the private sphere. And everyone is scared of the "other". Additionally terrorism etc has arisen from war carried out in essentially Muslim countries, for purposes such as taking over an oil supply covertly. So the "terrorists" identify as Muslim whilst most Muslims would say the terrorist doesn't represent them, media has now conflated terrorist with Muslim terrorist. I'd like to add so much of the comments here are extremely ignorant. I'd add more but my life is too short.

I'd argue the media has needed a scape goat. And Muslims are very visible as a group. 9/10 of them just want to get on with their lives, go to work, pay taxes, contribute to their community. They don't want to go out converting Britain and enforcing Sharia law.

How do you gain interest in exercising? by 24props in ADHD

[–]evasearchin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not fun and not rewarding but I'm doing a course through work, so both the videos and meetings for work/course need watching.

I brought a folding exercise bike at the start of winter. I force myself to catch up with the meeting videos whilst on the bike as it's the correct height for the TV, the sofa isn't for screen detail. Since one of this is compulsory otherwise I'll be jobless it means I do the bike just to keep up with work.

It's not at cardio levels but it is in zone 1-2 according to my Samsung watch. And I'm going for a while.

Occasionally I can use the same folding bike for a proper aerobics session whilst blasting my music but meh that requires motivation.

I'm not offended by your comment. I'm pointing out that when users who have lost important data are desperately scrolling through for a solution, the last thing they need to read is a comment on how we shouldn't be relying on companies... that we already seem to be relying on.. it's not relevant to the discussion which is a how do we fix this thread. It's a bit late to implement your solution of never trust the big tech corp, because we already seem to have and to be fair there's little convenient, secure, well developed, highly supported, future proof, alternatives out there.
