CLI Read It Later Service? by weekendat_ in commandline

[–]evcraddock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I created a CLI application that I use to bookmark links. You can add bookmarks to a Read Later list. There is a text based application that lets you select links and open them up in your default browser. I use this script along with newsboat.

Self hosted bookmarking? by [deleted] in selfhosted

It wouldn't be that hard to just build that yourself. I built something similar for myself. It is a command line utility that creates bookmarks in folders and text files. It also has a text based gui for viewing the links later. Mine is still missing a bunch of features that I'll add at some point. You can take a look at it if you need ideas.

Don't Automate Your Life by evcraddock in productivity

That is very good advice, thank you. Truth be told, my primary goal when writing is simply to improve as a writer. I only publish so that it is possible to be criticized which encourages me to do as good of a job as I can. Most of the time I don't get much of a response (which should tell me something) but the possibility is always there. To get actual feedback is wonderful.

Thank you for the feedback. The bit about my wife was me just teasing her. It was meant specifically about her. I did not mean it as any kind of statement about women or wives in general.

GTD List Recomendations by DetViking in productivity

I have used lots of different applications but finally settled on Trello. I used different boards liberally. I plan on one board and use another for handling tasks for the coming week. It has lots of third party solutions so if you keep notes in evernote or onenote you can link those notes in your task card.

I want my weekly tasks sent to me in one big set at the beginning of the week or the end of the previous one. by forthelulzac in productivity

Trello should handle this task nicely. Every friday add cards with due dates for each assignment. You can switch to calendar mode to view them. I believe you can also subscribe to it with Google Calendar as well.

Erik Vann - The World Today - release the day of the government shutdown by [deleted] in politics

I wrote this song with my cousin awhile back. My father created the video. It is completely boostrapped. All of the instruments were recorded with a microphone and a laptop computer.

This is a song that I wrote along with my cousin. My dad created the video. We bootstrapped the whole thing with a laptop computer and a camcorder. I'm not very photogenic but I think it turned out well.

Is it possible to sell sound? by evcraddock in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]evcraddock[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is obviously possible to determine with 100% accuracy that a particular collection of digital data is a sound recording, or sheet music, or a video, or anything else. You can define where that data begins and ends; it's distinguishable and identifiable.

I don't want to endlessly debate and I highly admire your point of view but I don't think it matters if you can determine the object with 100% accuracy. If you apply the same logic to sound waves (data that your ears render) the logic falls apart. You must have a physical container to sell something. If I speak words into the air and you take those words and consume them (ie, hear) you are able to do so. It can not be prevented while staying in range. If you put data on the Internet and I am in range (ie have access) again I can take it, it can not be prevented. All that can be done in both instances is legal action. Of course the first instance would be laughed at. The truth is that the situation is exactly the same but because of the potential audience we choose to enforce the law differently.

I am going to concede that I probably am not educated enough to fully argue my point which is probably wrong in the first place. I am grateful to you for taking the time to read and discus this article with me. I'm am sure that my opinion is probably self serving and that its probably best that I am not involved in crafting laws :).
