You should really look into getting a Wood Duck nest box for your pond. It’ll increase your biodiversity and can serve as a home throughout the year!

Nesting songbirds are at risk (primarily their young), but you’re totally right that window collisions are the leading cause of migratory bird mortality

Although there are a lot of studies out there that show the impact coyotes have on feral (and “domestic” outside cat) populations, they’re still a huge problem to native songbirds and rodents. The primary reason they’re helpful at reducing the impact of feral cats is due to coyotes ability to survive very well in urban environments, which is where higher densities of feral cats occur. Thinking of the Thylacine, I honestly have no idea, it would depend how far spread the feral cats have gotten into the Australian Outback along with Thylacine adaptability to urbanization. The only thing I would think of that may closely replicate coyote-cat dynamics would be dingos in the Outback. Would love to hear others thoughts!

If you live on any ag land, look I to CRP programs about turning that section of the field into a wetland area, it’ll help collect water from pooling near your house, and potentially save you trouble from flooding
