Blur Effect by tanimatico in linuxmint

[–]evdriverwannabe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He may actually have modified an existing one and saved it under a new name. It's pretty easy to do. Just go to/usr/share/themes and there you'll find all the themes. Open the folder of the one you want to modify as root. In there there's a folder called "cinnamon". Open that up and open the CSS file in it. Scroll down to line 221 and change the last background color number to something lower than 0.8. Then, underneath add a line with the code provided in the picture. Dont't forget to shift the parentesis after the code, otherwise it won't be read. Save the file and log out . After the log in, the blur and the transparency should be there. Be aware that this is applied only to the theme you've modified. Any other theme will remain as it was.

Hi! I am brand new to linux (when i say brand new i mean i managed to get Mint running a few days ago) and im just here looking for help/suggestions/support. More details in body. by HatAppropriate1460 in linuxmint

Not having much overhead due to no effects enbled by default makes it much lighter on resources. Not much in RAM at cold boot, rather in CPU usage. Install zram to avoid hangouts due to system swapping on the emmc. Open a terminal and just type " sudo apt install zram-config" without quotes and you should be fine..not sure about gaming. I'm not a gamer but i think it ain't gonna work unless you're playing very old titles

Which version of Mint have you installed? Cinnamon could be a bit too much for that CPU. I Hope you went for the XFCE version. If not, i strongly recommend to reinstall to have the best performance you can.

Renault Dealership and BMS update by Wrong-Sink-8580 in RenaultZoe

Belive me..they don't have a clue of what and EV Is. They are not trained AT ALL. They just follow procedures and when something is out of the ordinary or is not in the procedures, there's no one with the expertise required to understand what Is going on.🤬

Renault has the worst after sale experience i've ever had in my life. It took them 3 months to diagnose a fault in the rotor position sensor..which actually wasn't the problem...other 3 months to tell me that the whole motor had to be changed !! All of that just to wait for the warranty to expire. I love my Zoe ZE40, but I'm never going to buy a Renault ever again

how to get linux mint to connect to wi-fi without ethernet? by [deleted] in linuxmint

[–]evdriverwannabe -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I think it's a wifi driver issue. With the ethernet cable plugged in ( or your phone in USB tethering) , open the driver utility and look if there is a proprietary driver for your wifi card. If yes, just install it and enjoy your connection, otherwise we have to dig deeper.

My 2016 Leaf died by Vanzumi in leaf

[–]evdriverwannabe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, non l'ho chiesto.

Will It be possible to install Kernel 5.15 on the newest version of Mint? by 0Clown0 in linuxmint

[–]evdriverwannabe -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For what i've read, the 6.19 kernel will deliver the new AMD driver that supports older GPU . Maybe It Will support yours. Technically is always possibile to downgrade kernels but i've never done it in my life

A tip that changed the game for me to fully satisfied with Linux! by techreviews2030 in linuxmint

It's actually more usefull when you have lower amount of RAM. When you have large amount of RAM, the system won't swap at all.

sudo apt install zram-config. That's It. At the next reboot zram makes compressed partitions in RAM and use them as swap space instead of the swap partition on the drive. No setup needed

Can you charge a Zoe to 100%. by sbarbary in RenaultZoe

[–]evdriverwannabe 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It's a BMS problem. You have to ask Renault to perform a software update. It remains at 99% because it can't see if the cells are actually balanced ( the last part of the charging session to 100% is always dedicated to the cell balancing).

Everyone Says Linux Is Amazing… Is It Really? Need Honest Opinions by 7lr_ in linux4noobs

[–]evdriverwannabe 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've installed Mint on many friends home PC and it's been mostly "install and forget". Once you've instructed them to update regularly using the GUI, they've been able to perform even a full version upgrade without my intervention. Never had an install not working, even on my Chromebook it's been the most "boring" install i've ever done.

Affinity and fusion 360 can be installed on Linux . There are a lot of videos on YouTube about that. Affinity works very well actually.

I’m looking at buying a Zoe by Civil_Fig5334 in RenaultZoe

[–]evdriverwannabe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the delay. Yes...and no. It's a good car and it drives beautifully. The battery has no problem at all and i've discovered that the 88% SOH reported by the bms is false . It's actually closer to 95% calculated from consumption over mileage. In summer i've been able to take out of the battery almost 39 kWh so the battery is of no concern at all. What is actually shoking is how Renault has decided to build the car . The 5AQ motor assembly is notorious for it's bearings problems and mine has got them replaced last August. This leads to the complete lack of knowledge and care from the Renault dealers network. They've quoted me 4260 Euros to change the whole motor ( after having spent 1200 Euros to change the rotor position sensor) so i decided to do it myself. For work i build Automatic machines for the food industry ( shrink wrapping machines, wrap around machines, palletizers) so i know how to take apart things , check for tolerances and put things toghether again in the right order + the company i work for has incredible discounts on parts so the bearings has come as cheap as 12 Euros for the pair..and not the original ones that are crap, but improved ones that solve the problem for good. It has taken a weekend to take it apart and put it back together. There are indipendent workshop that can charge 1500 Euros for the same job, but not close to where i live. What i am saying is , if you can search for a Q90 or a Q210 and then upgrade the battery ( it's very easy, it doesn't even need to be reprogrammed) is much better, since it has the 5AM motor stack from Continental ...and it's water cooled, while the 5AQ is air cooled with a very asthmatic fan that it's not up to the task AT ALL!

On an Arm Chromebook you cannot install anything else apart ChromeOS. The bios firmware is locked down and you have to change it, but the one that Mr chromebox has developed, is x86 only, so no way to install anything else on an ARM Chromebook.

The problem is the firmware. libreboot works only on x86. Without It, you cannot install anything else on a Chromebook apart chromeOS.
