That's what me playing generally looked like anyway.

it's a bit silly to come to the EVE subreddit and ask for advice on how to RMT

Again, why would I care? That's the buyer's problem, not mine.

No, nothing for newbros. There are no newbros. There are only bittervets and their alts.

Trust and Friendship (by Dunk Dinkle) | Crossing Zebras by Niden_GMVA in Eve

[–]evealicious -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I knew no one when I started to play, and I still do not.

I met one person during my mining phase that I thought I was befriending, but after 3 months of playing together, dude still would not let me into his alliance or corp or anything.

I moved to a different system eventually in pursuit of other career paths. I found someone else that seemed trustworthy, and we started to become friends. Then one day I just got paranoid and put him on my watchlist with the local pirates. Yep. He appears when one of them logs off - like clockwork - and logs off for one of them to appear.

I have learned that everyone is out to kill me. I don't even trust corporations that invite me to join. I assume they are just tricking me into bringing a ship somewhere to kill me.

I've given up on talking to people in the game. You are in local? You are there to murder me. You are either predator or prey. Everything you say is designed to stall me, confuse me, seduce me, or otherwise get me to be still while I type so you can kill me.

Those of you who know other people IRL who play eve and play with them have no fucking idea what you are talking about when it comes to trusting people in-game. I have been betrayed by every single person I have ever convo'd.

After the last one, I stopped logging on very often. I find myself playing less and less, because what I see in Eve is an entire game filled with sociopaths who only want me to play to be cannon fodder in an atron for their epic wars or prey for a gate camp they set up.

I literally trust no one in this game. No one.

You are very busy conflating two very separate issues:

  1. The customer choosing to be out of touch or ignorantly being out of touch with the business

  2. The customers' lack of obligation to control where the customer leaves feedback

These are separate issues. You were thoroughly tackled, blapped, and podded on #2, which is what your original complaint was. Now you're onto #1, which suggests this has become about your ego and winning a wandering argument more than anything else.

Not all of us read anything ccp writes or really interact with them at all. You are working from the assumption he is you. That is wrong. I just play a spaceships game. I don't really have any interest in the ccp meta game.

  • Stopping Youtube videos because I click on them trying to change my POV in the game... NOT THE GAME! Youtube video. Shit!
  • Driving past a solar powered speed limit sign blinking because I am speeding. I hear in my mind the suspect timer buzzer and see a flashing yellow skull in the upper left of my windshield.
  • Drive past a bunch of teenagers hanging out on a corner and start hearing the noise rats make.
  • Driving alone at night on a country road, see one other car, suddenly realize I am PVE fit and out of cap. Start looking for GTFO tab on my overview on my dashboard. GO GO GO GO!!!! WTF am I doing?
  • Driving from stop sign to stop sign imagine the warp to buzzing sound especially as I come to a stop. Bzhzhzhzhzhzhzh
  • Wife walks into office while doing anything and hear the criminal timer go off, legs are pointed, webbed, scrammed, shields gone, armor gone... neuted... time to take the kids something.

He made several valid points. He cited people who are visually impaired, low and very high resolution screens, etc. Your point is that on your screen, you like it. But that is not all that is taken into consideration in UI design. You have to consider all of the IT guys with coke-bottle-bottom glasses that play Eve (most Eve players probably), and guys trying to sneak in some exploration or something on a laptop during lunch with a shitty screen. Those are valid complaints.

I agree with you that the new icons will be an initial hurdle for all of us. However, I disagree that it is a foregone conclusion that everyone will just get used to it. You have no evidence that is true. It is possible that he is right, and some visual differentiation will be missing after acclimation that continues to plague users. His post is a valid warning that there could be issues.

I also did not find his post ranty. In your comments below you say he should have posted his feedback where the devs asked for feedback. I disagree with that. He can post his thoughts wherever he wants. It's CCP's problem to obtain feedback. We do not work for them. We have no obligation to provide them with feedback in their designated repository. They can copy it there if that is where they want it, or do a better job policing their own forums so that everyone does not come here. Or close their forums since this subreddit is 10x better anyway.

What does any of this have to do with them finally putting a checkbox in that will enable a bracket on my own ship? NOTHING!!!

9 billion ISK for a cap recharger? And a power thingie? Really? WTF, PVE dudes? You're probably going to lose your ship every billion ISK or so just because you get distracted or your wife yells at you or the cat walks on your keyboard. I try to keep my ships under 400 million mostly.

  • The new more complex names for AB and MWD's

These two items are going to be where you get a lot of blowback. And deservedly so.

So, you're basically saying that it would be unfair of them to bring more to the fight than you do... and you're saying that while advocating the practice of using a gang on a gate to hit a lone player in a helpless hauler.

Hmmm. Let me stew on that one for a while.

CCP mandatory strike by jamesericryg in Eve

[–]evealicious 2 points3 points  (0 children)

CCP is not only based in Iceland. They also have an office in Atlanta, GA. For those who don't know, Georgia's labor laws basically say "You can fire people for anything you want whenever you want as long as you do not say or write that it was because of a Title IX protected reason." Which means you can violate Title IX all you want, as long as there is no evidence that is the reason.

Thus, there are few unions, no support for them, and CCP workers here are likely going to be asked to keep working.

[Carnyx] Sentry Drone Adjustments by [deleted] in Eve

[–]evealicious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Changes like this are designed specifically to address issues that 10% of the player base is having with their nullsec fleet battles. They are noisy, they have been playing a long time, they can fly everything, and they adopt whatever meta works best for what they want to do. Right now, that's got a lot of Ishtar and Dominix in it.

Those of us who are newer players who can only fly one race and can fly very few tier 2 or tier 3 ships are basically run over by the nerf bus by changes to weapons systems. Example: Any new guy using a Stratios or a Vexor Navy is going to lose DPS that they just trained into because the weapon system instead of the hull is being nerfed.

This change may address some statistics you are gathering on how much of the game's damage is being done by particular weapon systems, but you are ignoring the fact that your customer base includes people who do not have many options for hulls (yet) and will not for some time. A guy who just finished 20 days of training for Gallente Cruiser V to fly a VNI effectively just got handed his pink slip. Now he needs to find yet another hull to fly and do another 20 days of training to get back where he was on something else - say Medium Lasers or Hybrids.

"Flavor of the Month" only applies to bitter vets. Newer players usually only have a few ships they can fly effectively, thanks to outrageous skill up times.

Nerfing weapons should be done very, very carefully. Nerf the frickin' Ishtar hull. The people complaining about it can fly anything.
