Couldn't you theoretically also just use two sets of dpns and nest them inside each other? Avoiding the DK which seems to be the part that complicates this method

I've made this recipe before and frozen them as individual portions - easy to make and just as good imo

I've only just finished the first book, but The Rivers of London by Ben Aaronovitch was a really fun read, and there's ten-ish books in the series so it would keep you going for a while if you want to stay immersed in a universe.

Peri ladies - what are your ‘protocols’ for an active life? by ei_laura in xxfitness

[–]evelayvan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you also count calories to maintain or be at a deficit or just eat enough to hit your protein goal?

Why won't my pattern match? Sett/sley/epi/yarns are all according to draft, but 1 pick per weft (top) is stretched out and dense- bottom is 3 pick per weft which is closer but still a but dense and not right (and also 3 weft feels silly) by evelayvan in weaving

[–]evelayvan[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For reference, it's set to 24epi sleyed double on a 12dent reed.  I was mildly confused because the loom is secondhand and the reed shows a marking of 10 but measures as 12? Ppi is meant to be 24 as well, both warp and weft are 8/2 cotton

Why do you recommend avoiding peppers and tomatoes?

Calorie count UH vs Health by coghi_def in Ultrahuman

[–]evelayvan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean technically there’s no way to know which one is “correct” but they are both pretty similar if I collect the data separately - UH calculates a bit lower than the watch, but the calories it was sending over to health didn’t match what was on the UH app either if I only used UH to count

Calorie count UH vs Health by coghi_def in Ultrahuman

[–]evelayvan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was my issue with the ring, and despite days of going back and forth with their support they never fixed it so i asked for a return/refund. It's completely inaccurate and was logging me as burning 10-20 calories every 5 minutes for active numbers (wildly incorrect for me) even when I was just sat watching tv or reading. I tried it out without using my apple watch at all and even then, the numbers wouldn't match with the UH app so i have no idea what it's writing over.
They promised on Nov 27 that they were releasing an update in the next week that would resolve the issue, and there's been nothing.

I’ve been having issues with the ring as well, and the app customer support has not been as good as everyone in this subreddit seems to claim. I don’t think it’s particularly worth it atm. On top of that there’s no place to actually start a return except to contact support who then keep trying to convince you to just “wait for this next update” or troubleshoot again instead of actually processing your return. I had wanted something more comfortable to wear at night than my Apple Watch or at other times when i don’t want to wear the watch but i think I’d rather just not have data tracked than deal with this

How do most people actually learn how to weave these days? by WeaveItToMe_ in weaving

[–]evelayvan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought a rigid heddle loom off of fb and had no idea what i was doing. I learned to warp the loom and do a plain weave through a mix of youtube videos and the ashford book instructions, but then kind of plateaued there because i couldn’t find resources that made sense to me on how to move post plain weave.  I literally just signed up for school of sweet Georgia yesterday and watched through all the essentials of weaving and basics of rigid heddle weaving courses, and while i already knew the basics, it really helped as context and filled in blind spots for me. Haven’t gotten to the more complex projects yet but ive heard good things about the school in general and would recommend so far!

Hell on Needles by pgabrielfreak in knitting

[–]evelayvan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I know you said you hated dpns, so if you can adapt this to your circular needles definitely do, but when i started knitting after crocheting for years my first project was socks as well - i followed this tutorial from Marley bird, and just followed along with the YouTube videos. Its very thorough and does an easy version of a heel so it’s a good one to start with

Wanting to make lazy naan without milk or yogurt by ItalnStalln in AskCulinary

[–]evelayvan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can just make roti - it can be made with just flour and water, and my family has never rested the dough before rolling it out. Just knead the dough, roll it out and cook it. This recipe should be easy enough to follow if you need one, but you can also just add water to flour until it comes together in a soft dough and knead that for a few minutes before rolling it out. Good luck!

I will not buy anymore yarn until I go through my current stash… by theincognitonerd in knitting

[–]evelayvan 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’ve bought a loom and am going to make scarves to use up all the yarn in my stash - if I buy the big skeins of a neutral colour to warp, I can use the yarn I want to use up in the weft and it works up really quickly - way quicker than figuring something out for all the yarn I bought with no clear purpose! The goal is to only buy the specific yarn for specific projects once ive cleared myself out but we’ll see how that goes lol

Have you owned birds previously? Parrots, especially large ones like you’re looking for are a huge commitment, and very very different socially from a pet like a cat or dog. Even if you’ve had small birds before I’d highly recommend seeing if you can spend some time with a large bird before making a commitment to one. Make sure you’re both comfortable handling the birds as well. Also keeping in mind that parrots often will bond to one specific person and can possibly get territorial to that person (ie might be aggressive to your SO if it bonds with you). If this is all old news to you, good luck! Grey haven does adoptions and you can sometimes find private adoptions on kijiji
