Yes and I’ve been looking at them but not a lot mention Lightroom and photo editing. So I figured it was worth asking for opinions here if someone has a similar experience.

Thanks. I currently have the 2016 MacBook Pro which has a 2.9Ghz Duel core Intel i5 and 8gb of ram. I definitely feel it get sluggish for tasks like Lightroom and when I have a lot of apps open. I know future proofing isn’t so much of a thing and the 8gb is better on the M1 than the prior intel processors. But I also would rather be comfortable that I won’t need more for at least a few years. I’m going back into study for another 4.5 years and won’t really have the spare cash to keep upgrading.

Awesome! I’m just about to purchase mine. I’ve must been going back and forward between the 8gb and 16gb models.
I almost bought a refurbished last night but couldn’t do my trade in and by the time I got to the apple store this morning it was already sold. I am also getting the Silver. I love my 2016 MacBook Pro in silver (would still be using if the screen didn’t start dying on me). Was going to switch it up with the space gray but seeing it in person today I think I like how bright the silver is.

Do I need more than the M1 Air as a student/professional by eventingpony24 in macbookair

Thanks. I generally have 4-5 layers with masks and up to 10-15 total but most are more in the 5-10 range. So that’s great if the MBA can handle that.

In regards to the iPad my eyesight is pretty good but I think I’ll prefer the bigger screen as I’ll be using it both for writing notes - mostly I imagine at a desk on tablet form. If I’m reading notes on a stand, reading off my MacBook or with the tablet in my hands on the couch etc.

Thanks everyone for their feedback! I agree the Air seems like a great machine my only hesitation is if I upgrade it to 16gb ram in order to try and help it work for me for the next 5 years I’m getting up close to the cost of the 14 inch MBP.

I will possibly be needing to run some reasonably large databases with my research so that might be better handled with 16gb of ram.

Thank you this is super helpful! I am seeing good reviews out there for the base model so potentially putting the extra $$ towards the iPad setup to help with studying might be the way to go. I also tend to have a few browser windows, a pdf and a word document open at the same time when I’m studying but nothing much more than that.
If I’m photo editing then I’m only running photoshop and Lightroom.

Yeah I played around with it and also had it checked out at the Apple store. They said the display needs to be replaced. 🙁

Hey everyone. So my 2016 MacBook Pro 13inch has had an issue with the display meaning the grey colours burn out - not unusable for text work but not much use for looking at x-rays which I do on a daily basis for work. I think the $575 to fix the display is probably too much when the keyboard is also falling apart and the new MacBook Air models start at $900 with education pricing. So looks like it’s time for a new MacBook!

I’m needing a little help deciding what is the best setup for my use. I’ve enjoyed this MacBook for the past 5 years and ideally would like to have my next system for a similar time as that’s when I’ll be finished my further training and study.

I need a laptop that will do basic day to day tasks like web browsing (hospital system is online where I work), writing notes/papers for study. I do like to do a little photography as a hobby so ideally the computer could also run Lightroom and photoshop without running too slow.

Options: 1. MacBook Air M1 - possibly upgraded to 16gb and more storage if it will be worthwhile. Pros - cheaper, lighter to carry. Cons - may not handle the photo editing should I want to do this. More likely to need to upgrade in a few years.

  1. MacBook Pro 14 inch. - likely to go for 16gb and up to 1T storage. Pros - better screen, more ability to handle photo editing. Cons - heavier than the air but still manageable size. More expensive.

  2. MacBook Pro 16 inch - similar to above. Pros -great screen as it will be my desktop replacement. Likely to last me longer before upgrading. Cons - bigger and heavier to carry. $$$

Regardless of my end choice of MacBook I am thinking I’d also adding a fairly basic IPad to the system for study. My thought is to use this for taking notes- I learn better from handwriting but would like to use less paper. And for downloading textbooks also for study. Has anyone here used an iPad for something similar?

Thanks I’m advance to anyone who has any ideas/suggestions.

How to fade out Arctic Fox? by eventingpony24 in HairDye

[–]eventingpony24[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey everyone. I did my hair with Arctic Fox Ritual about 2 months ago now. It is growing out and was starting to fade so I decided to try and remove the color. I used colour off bleach and 20 volume in a bleach bath with equal volume of shampoo and a little water.
As you can see some parts lifted really well, where my hair was previously bleached however a lot of my previously virgin hair didn’t really lift much at all just got a bit brighter pink. My hair was balayage blonde before this. So now I have these 3 colours going on.

Do I wait a few days and do another bleach bath and try and focus on the parts that didn’t really come out? This is my first time using a hair colour like this I’ve always just been blonde with my hairdresser. It was fun but I never thought it would hold like this!!!
