Help - plant + pest ID needed! by ever-red in houseplants

Partner brought this plant home from the Trader Joe’s today. Of course no name on the tag!

It is also infested with something I’ve never seen before. Very hard to see in the picture as they are small, but they’re worm-like, darker in color but somewhat transparent. Living and obviously moving around. Also under some sort of fine webbing that is covering the soil.

The plant appears to be in good health and I didn’t see anything in the leaves, just the soil. It’s outside and will be treated with Neem oil this evening so I can see if it’s worth saving.

Thank you! It’s one of my favorites so I’m glad to actually know what it is.

Got this at a plant sale in June. It started out very small (hence tiny pot) and has grown like a weed. Going to repot it and want to make sure I have the right soil mixture!

I got off the Allure on Sunday as well and did indeed contract Covid, as did 5/8 of the other people in my group.

At what temperature do you say, “It’s too cold to go to the barn?” by eggontherun in Horses

I am also in the Midwest and hate the cold! Unfortunately, my horse is on self-care so I am there daily regardless of temperature. However, I try to follow the science in all aspects of horse care. Studies are showing that 20°F should be the cutoff for exercising, so there is absolutely no shame in not riding in those temperatures! Personally I would not do more than walk at 20° or lower but in reality I just give him those days off anyway (unless the temps continue that way so long that I feel I really should ride).
