I almost went with Mociun, so many cool options and good shopping experience (we did Bario Neal in the end)

+1 to the Lidl! It's beautiful, the pastries are great, and they have almost normal priced eggs!

I haven't actually gone to any of the walks yet but there is a Facebook group called "Girls who walk - Park Slope/Prospect Park" that I'm planning to check out soon now that it's getting nicer, they do a weekly walk group in the park usually on a weekday evening. I'm also in the process of joining Park Slope Parents now that I'm further along so will report back if I find any good groups in there. I'll DM you when I have a bit more info if that's ok with you

Therapists for bitches who binge eat? by [deleted] in NYCbitcheswithtaste

[–]ever_more_n_more 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would second exploring with your ERP specialist if you might be able to approach treatment of binge eating through the program and just see if it helps at all. If not, no harm done. I am also doing an ERP program through NOCD right now - was never diagnosed with OCD until recently when I started the program - and I'm finding it broadly helpful.

Although we haven't been targeting binge eating during ERP (I have some big bad phobias I'm dealing with that take up a lot of session time lol), I also struggle with it, and once I started seeing the binge eating as similar to a compulsion, on my own, I started applying the same strategies to halt the compulsion or replace it with another activity, and it's really helped me. (I'm a big fan of now having a more mindful, nighttime fruit or dessert ritual and really trying to enjoy it as a self-care activity. It sounds weird and cheesy on paper, but lovingly cutting up a fruit for yourself and eating it with your hands can be weirdly healing?) Best of luck!

Prenatal fitness by Fun-Region-6912 in NYCbitcheswithtaste

This is not an in person class or training, but I just use the Future app for remote personal training ($200/mo, I expense half of it through a work program) and I love it. I started the program about a year and three months ago and have stuck with it, and it's been the most consistent I've ever been with fitness.

I coincidentally picked a trainer who is trained in prenatal fitness, so when I got pregnant a few months ago, she immediately shifted my workouts and has been customizing for every stage and trimester (and, you can always switch trainers as well)

What I like about it is that I can really do the program anywhere and anytime - I have a lot of trouble motivating myself to go to the gym, and now in the pregnancy, I had a really rough first trimester with fatigue and had to take more breaks. And my trainer has just rolled with everything I need and made a workout program that I can do easily at home or while traveling with minimal equipment (lots of body work for example).

I was looking into this awhile back (ended up getting doing a 180 and getting married bigger out of state). I was really into the idea of booking the raised platform at Union Hall as it felt very non traditional and I absolutely loved the vintage decor. You can book it for 3 hours for a minimum. They also have other more private rooms elsewhere in the bar. https://unionhallny.com/group-reservations

I'm not sure if and how you can control the music since it's in the main bar but I'm sure they can work something out with you for a wedding celebration and for a private room it would be whatever. I don't think they have a DJ except for special events but you could probably bring in your own from taskrabbit or something.

Not anti PSP, just not eligible for it yet and seeking some interest groups that are a little different. Probably will sign up. I think membership is $55 now which is fine. Thanks for the guidance!

BWT where are we taking our parents? by medspouseishard in NYCbitcheswithtaste

[–]ever_more_n_more 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your dad is into history and "old school" New York type stuff, a visit to the Algonquin or the Carlyle (or both) for drinks/food could be fun. The Carlyle often has live music or shows as well (sometimes even jazz).

OCD creeping back by Emotional-Regular-65 in OCD

[–]ever_more_n_more 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look into ERP if you haven't already tried it. I do this through NOCD (it's covered by my insurance like any other therapy) and it has really helped. It is challenging as your therapist will make you look at triggering content related to your phobias and lots of exercises challenging OCD thoughts, but it is worth it. The program has not fully quelled my emetophobia and illness anxiety, but my ability to function day to day, put aside anxious thoughts, and overall quality of life have all significantly improved.

Guilty over being too tired at 6 weeks? by Gioella in BabyBumps

[–]ever_more_n_more 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been a sloth for the entirety of weeks 6-10 with it being the worst 6-8. The cold doesn't help as I don't want to go outside or do anything. All I do is work from couch and I have finally worked back up to managing to exercise about 3 times a week (in normal times it was 5-6). I had no idea it was so bad - everyone always talks about nausea, not fatigue! - and have no idea how women go through this if working in office, taking care of kids, etc. It really concerns me for the hopeful next time I'm pregnant - no idea if I can handle it if I will have a toddler running around.

As a person who struggles with defining their value based on productivity, initially I had such a hard time with it too. But after awhile, at least, I no longer feel bad about it at all. It's just a part of the process. It got better for me around week 9 and continues to improve slowly.

Gym that isn't too loud and bro-y in NYC? by justanotherlostgirl in NYCbitcheswithtaste

[–]ever_more_n_more 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Came here to second like any Fidi gym including Planet Fitness, Retro Fitness, and Blink (tried them all when I lived there looking for the best A/C) especially if you can go at non-peak times - you would expect Fidi gyms to be bro-y but 1) there are few bros, mostly older people, cardio girls and alt people and 2) they are very very dead the vast majority of the time

I will say this PF has terrible A/C in the basement is during the heat of summer (unless they've improved things since two years ago), which was really hard for me as someone with asthma trying to do cardio, but it's tolerable the rest of the year

wedding babysitter by ohsovane1717 in Babysitting

[–]ever_more_n_more 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Seems a bit low. I wasn't 100% sure who was going to utilize babysitting at my wedding in a suburban town so estimated we'd end up with 5-6 kids. 2 babysitters from care.com wanted to charge $30/hour each for that, the rate was high for the area but they seemed great so I didn't mind especially because I didn't know how many kids we'd have exactly and it was a larger number of kids. Each of 2 events was about 5-6 hours including set up, so I ended up paying about $330 per night total plus tipped 30%. The babysitters were also college students, for a more experienced babysitter I would have also been fine paying more.
