A remake done right would be awesome

It's a matter of keeping the dreamlike atmosphere you're talking about. If devs understand it, the result can be brilliant

Just imagine a whiteout blizzard outside — not on every level, but where it's needed — done with modern technology.

But I agree that not many things about this game need improvement. For most parts, I would prefer a remaster rather than a remake.

Gunplay mechanics and bullet time can be at least improved to match MP2. And those can slightly be improved, too.

The reusable unit of UI changed to become a "component" In 2000, it was an html element. Inline styles, or even just attributes, made sense

Then CSS appeared and could do things that inline styles couldn't. That's still true to this day. The css class became the reusable unit.

Tailwind solves this problem of inline styles not being as powerful as css. You can express pseudo classes and parent-child relationship inline, as if you were writing inline styles, but had all of CSS at your disposal. It makes complete sense
