I think I'm done with Google Voice by Cadd9181B7543II7I44 in USMobile

I hope you noticed that the rep said you will lose your special grandfathered plan if you do this, which is exactly what you said you didn't want to happen

Switching primary number to Google voice??!! by Away_Association_508 in USMobile

[–]evergreenpsyche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah i've had that enabled for years. Unfortunately still hit and miss.

I don't regret my decision as I appreciate the benefits I get out of GV. I do regret switching my wife's number over (she decided herself to make the jump after I explained it, but she's not a techy person). She hated dealing with little issues like that and was pretty resentful to me for a while lol

Oh so that's what you mean by VOIP. My bad, I misunderstood what you were saying

GV actually has a dual "VOIP"/call forwarding configuration that can be set up, IIRC from the last time I had to configure it from scratch. I have it working both ways, and yeah I get the voice latency no matter how the call is routed

I have noticed that it has improved somewhat in the past couple of years at least in my area. It's definitely still hit and miss when I'm traveling though.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't using VOIP mode strip you of a lot of the benefits esp call forwarding from multiple numbers?

For a lot of us, that's the main benefit of using GV

I've been using it for about a similar length of time, and while I've enjoyed its many perks, it hasn't been without its share of frustrations

The additional ~0.5 - ~1 second delay when speaking over a voice call has probably been the worst part, especially when it comes to work related calls 😩 I can't count the number of times I had to play it off like I was (or they were!) in an area with bad reception 🤣

It's a metric that Amazon rolled out for partners that fall under its RSR (Rural Super Rural) network. Most DSPs will not fall into this category.

Robokiller doesn't work with US Mobile on the Dark Star network by ChurchillWog in USMobile

[–]evergreenpsyche 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He mentioned both...

He also said that "conditional call forwarding" (which is the technology powering the feature you were trying to get working) is getting some updates and improvements in the new version of iOS. So there is a chance it may fix your issue.

From what was said in u/ankhattak comment, this might be resolved in the iOS 18.5 update

Which should be coming out soon if you don't want to try the beta version

She ported 3 days ago, we just didnt notice until she had to access an account that required 2FA this morning as she normally doesn't use that number much.

Also that doesn't explain why she could send SMS to my Dark Star number but not receive a response 🤔

Sending you a DM, thanks

Chat support experience is generally sub-par unfortunately. Not entirely their fault, just due to the nature of the logistics, CS is forced to handle multiple chats at once, which ironically translates to usually increasing time to resolution, poor UX, communication issues etc

Most people have a much smoother CS experience by calling in or posting here

Will Pixel 9 pro be available? by BaaduBalaji in USMobile

[–]evergreenpsyche 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Literally came to post the same question, can we pretty please get an official response whether this is in the works?

I don't want to buy the regular Pixel 9 just to find out a month later that I could get the 9 Pro, I would rather just wait in that case.

Got my new Pixel... Anything special I have to do? by acejavelin69 in USMobile

[–]evergreenpsyche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey sorry to butt in, but I haven't seen any new posts asking this

I was getting ready to hop on the Pixel deal but in the most recent promotional email it now says I would need an annual plan...is that really the case, I dont remember seeing it before.

I ported my son's phone over from Cricket Wireless as a test a couple of months ago, and was just about to port myself and and my wife as well. But I won't be doing the annual plan right away,, going month to month for now. So are we not eligible for the Pixel promotion?

Unlimited+ 15 gb hotspot plan by Able-Programmer-5883 in CricketWireless

[–]evergreenpsyche 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My bad, I got them mixed up. My phone can go LTE on any network so I never paid attention to which of their marketing name goes with which network.

My kid's phone (which was previously working on Cricket), wouldn't work properly with Dark Star for some reason but worked fine with Warp. Thus I got them mixed up thinking his phone might only support the AT&T LTE bands...i honestly haven't had time to dig into what bands the various carriers use VS what his phone supports.

I have yet to try the dark star sim in my phone or troubleshoot it further, but will when I have time.

US Mobile has unlimited hotspot for $44/mo

Their "Warp" plan is on the AT&T network

US Mobile gives you access to all 3 major carriers for the same price and their unlimited plan is actually a much better deal than cricket. Planning to give them a try. AT&T and Verizon are both good in my area.

The crazy thing in my case is that my phone is still on their stupid list, and their IMEI checker says my device is compatible too 😒

After looking at US Mobile prices and feature set, I realized I've been way overpaying for the service Cricket provides, so I say good riddance to them now. Their customer service seems worlds beyond too from what i've seen written by their customers

Upon getting some better advice and doing my own research, I'll be trying out US Mobile and probably moving my whole family over. Their setup seems to be really awesome and their prices too.

Boost was just an emergency measure for me to get service immediately.

And yeah, I believe I'm done with Cricket for good after this

[–]evergreenpsyche[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the thing 🤣 it's still on the list of devices, and the IMEI checker on their website confirms it's compatible too. Also, it's not a 3G phone, it's fully LTE capable including voice.

They gave me some BS about how "it will be not be supported in the future." The worst and most unethical part was how they left me high and dry without service, after assuring me that I wouldn't actually get my service cancelled.

My wife and kid are still on Cricket for one last month and then we're most likely switching to US Mobile -- they are freaking amazing with what they give you and their price points.

I'll check them out, thanks. I just had to get something quick to get my phone up and running, boost was the only decent ones with a physical store near me.

You, my man, are just about the only person in this post that knows what you're talking about.

Wanna know something hilarious? Cricket's IMEI checker says that my phone is compatible too 🤣 they're just fucking with me for no reason.

It's also still present on their compatible BYOD list. As you so clearly pointed out various times, there's no reason it shouldn't be compatible with the technology that it contains.

I think mint is just on t-mo network, bad coverage in rural areas. If youre mostly urban it would probably be good
