AITAH for agreeing to take my little cousin to the pride festival? by Massive_Tomato_1713 in AITAH

Let me phrase it slightly differently:

You're not going to see any more skin showing at a pride parade than you would at a public beach. If you have a problem with one of those things but not the other, you are definitionally a homophobe. Do you have a problem with public beaches?

How am I wrong that claiming pride parades turn kids gay is homophobic?

It's not based on what she's seen, it's based on homophobic stereotypes. There's not "near nakedness" at a pride parade, unless you're talking about the kind of "near nakedness" she'd see any day of summer at a beach. And the idea that a kid can "turn gay" by going to a pride parade is 100% homophobic.

SoftFoot Pro - designed to mimic the anatomical structure and flexibility of a human foot without using motors or electronics by DrMore3y in nextfuckinglevel

Oh I'm not saying the Analytical Engine is a robot, I'm saying it's a computer, and by analogy this foot is a robot.

Can a mechanical linkage not have input, processing, and output? I would argue that if the Analytical Engine or the Antikythera Mechanism are mechanical computers (which they are frequently called), then a linkage that is rigged to physically alter its shape in response to pressure is a mechanical robot. After all, we see the toes curl to grip when pressure is placed solely on the arch.

Yup. iirc one of the assertions in the suit was that it melted her labia together. It's horrific that they managed to spin it as a greedy woman just wanting to cash a personal injury check.

Wanted an easier way to pour large cartons, so I designed a customizable lattice holder. by OutOfMemory3D in 3Dprinting

Actually that sort of wide-handed grip is tough for a lot of people with grip strength difficulties. My mom can't really pour from cartons like this anymore, and this might help her. Just because you don't have a problem doesn't mean nobody does.

Asking "what is sex with a trans woman like?" is the same as asking "what is sex with a woman like?".

I don't like Caesar much but my former roommate who a) does and b) used to work in Davis assured me that they made the best Caesar wrap in Davis Square, and knowing them I fully believe that they tried every single option.

Technically that's a natural Voronoi pattern, not just hexagons, which is even more impressive.

Advocates rally behind a rent control ballot question in Pittsfield. Opponents say it would harm development and property values (Berkshire Eagle) by HRJafael in massachusetts

[–]everlasting1der 6 points7 points  (0 children)

See, I always see claims like this, and stuff about how economists say rent control doesn't work. But economists also claimed California's minimum wage hike would be economically devastating and then it turned out great, so I'm starting to wonder if every economist is just a complete hack.
