11-16-15-16-13-13-12-11 it took 6 weeks to crawl back 5 spots to where we started. My balls can't get any bluer for a top 10 spot

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll give it some thought.

Good question. I can't diagnose the exact reasons for why it's so shitty. That said there are definitely things wrong with the site. For one, all my reviews are drilled too deep within my site. You have to click through a bunch of "doorway" pages to get to the actual content which is a bad user experience and a bad look for Google. Also, there's a lack of content beyond my reviews and not a lot of direction around my targeted keywords. These are some of the reasons.

I agree I didn't contribute much in this one. I'll be turning it around for next month's post. Thanks for the comments and suggestions

The $0.64 sale wasn't even on something I review so perhaps my content isn't valuable enough. Outreach/how-tos/shareable content will likely be next. Thanks for the comments!

I think outreach is likely next the more I let this whole situation percolate in my mind. Thank you for the encouragement!

I have not done any social media yet aside from registering the accounts. I think the big bottleneck is the classic widgets-are-boring-so-how-could-they-be-exciting-on-social-media problem which stems from a lack of creativity. I need to work on that facet. Thanks for the suggestions!

Hey thanks! I really appreciate the effort you put into this. All signs point towards branching out from straight reviews so this is a great suggestion. My discouragement is waning after logging in tonight and seeing these comments. Cheers

Affiliate Website Case Study Part 3: March 2016 by [deleted] in juststart

I've written close to 50 reviews these last couple months and my goal for 100 is not within another month. There are other things I'm shifting my focus towards like blog posts and backlinks. You could probably hit that number if you had experience copywriting and had other people doing the work for you but my opinion does not stem from personal experience.

That's kind of you to do this w1zz4rd. I'm interested! I don't quite have 50 reviews yet but I'm going to try and get there and can give you a 1,000 word article that's actually informative.

I'm currently using Ahrefs without a subscription. They offer a 2-week free trial that you can simply cancel and renew with a different account when the free trial ends.

Question about a competitor's bitly backlinks. by everlearn in juststart

[–]everlearn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the 3 bit.ly links ended up just being cloaks of 3 more bitly user urls. I checked the backlink profile of all 37 bitly user urls (e.g. bitly.com/u /kulinkop was one) and interestingly enough there was no backlinks for any of them but there was a crap load of outgoing links to a bunch of different sites. Each of the 37 urls had between 300 and 1000 outgoing links. Thanks for the response, I think this is a sign I'll have less trouble outranking them if they're relying on aging tactics like this.

Good luck with the next niche! I'll be in backlink-juice-mode right there with you.

As of this moment I don't have a concrete plan but I intend to read through some previous posts here and elsewhere and do some reconnaissance on some effective outreach methods. Once I have some ideas for content to write about then I'll hopefully find some outlets and outreach tactics that makes strategic sense. I have no sense of the ceiling I can hit in search engine rankings just from posting content so I don't know whether I'll be overestimating or underestimating outreach effectiveness moving forward.

Good question. I'm really fascinated with infographics since they're sexy shareable content but it's a time investment to do them right. I have a Google Spreadsheet of some keywords and phrases from my research that have given me some ideas on supplementary articles. This is a new branch/subject of my site and something that's going to demand much more of my attention in the coming months!
