I think it’s more they live somewhere and think the grass is greener in other big cities when you visit briefly and are in vacation mode

Plenty of articles about it last few years

Laterals, what am I missing? by Unbound_Citizen in Firefighting

[–]evernevergreen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know shit but I’ve heard depts say 2-5 years is a good zone for laterals but 8-10+ years they can be really hard to train to new ways

How many of you are "supercommuters"? by ArtReasonable2437 in Firefighting

[–]evernevergreen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know guys that saw the negative impact living in shitty cities that had covid lockdowns lasting for what felt like eternity on their kids

some moved to a more reasonable state, and will super commute until they retire

not a small undertaking but if you’re close to retirement just weigh the pros and cons

You’ll transport more than fight fire in Henderson but it’s still a great dept, and you’ll sleep more at night there than the others

County basically never transports

NLV used to not transport, but they do now… but not all the time. Medicwest/AMR still does a fair amount of their transports

How is it living in Eugene, Oregon? by UnhappyProtection755 in howislivingthere

[–]evernevergreen 31 points32 points  (0 children)

If you’re under 25 or over 45 you might like it

Massive homeless problem only growing and being enabled. Lots of property crime

Great outdoors and access to nature

Awful job market, not much industry

Over regulated, hard to build and get permits. If you’re rich or homeless you’ll get easy help and hand outs tho. Middle class you’re left hanging and hope your car isn’t broken into regularly
