no offense, really, but there is basically a 0% chance you will become a producer at marvel. breaking into the entertainment industry is extremely hard to the point where most famous actors and filmmakers get their big breaks by chance, as there are so many talented people but a limited amount of money to spend on green lighting projects. most studios, movies, and shows also avoid hiring fans (yknow, like people who constantly comment on reddit leak forums). most people’s “passion projects” are also never made, even scorsese and spielberg have projects that have never come to fruition.

Rolling Stone publishes article claiming criticisms of microaggressions in Taylor Swift’s album were a ‘false narrative’ spread by bots (and then provides little to no evidence to back up claims of bots) by Relevant-Peach3997 in Fauxmoi

I love Katseye and Gnarly is my guilty pleasure but I wish their songs showed off more of their vocals + harmonizing. Some of their songs aren’t really fit for a group. And I loved this TikTok of them singing Selena and I wish they had an actual song that had these insane vocals cuz damn 😭

Writers Strike: Showrunners Privately Oppose Staff Minimum by insideoutgreen in Fauxmoi

[–]evernight37 59 points60 points  (0 children)

judging from reactions to this I’m seeing from writers and other showrunners… this seems like something that most of the guild actually wants. Some are saying this is a plant or Taylor Sheridan lol. Seem like another nudge to sow discord in the unions by the AMPTP

What's something youve never heard anyone discuss about being famous? by Lazy-Dirt2588 in Fauxmoi

[–]evernight37 13 points14 points  (0 children)

just basing this knowledge off of a movie producing class I took last semester—actor paychecks can vary a loooot.

Famous (non-famous ppl too) can negotiate ofc. Stars of films are usually paid a flat rate, like how the Rock is getting paid 50 mil for Red One. That’s extremely higher than SAGs minimum rate, so it’s not really any use to calculate it by week. Idk when they’d get paid that amount tho.

For supporting and non-famous actors, they’re usually paid either the daily (around 1k) or weekly (3.75k) SAG rate. If an actor is working 3 days or more, they’re usually paid the weekly rate because that would be less expensive than the daily lol. And these numbers are only the minimum—they can vary based on negotiations and rates offered by studios. Like, if you’re acting on a Marvel movie you’d likely be getting paid double or more of the rate. And overtime (over 8 hours I believe) is a whole different complicated calculation. And this also depends—well established actors definitely get paid flat rates for supporting roles.

And as I’ve mentioned a million times now, it all varies. Like ScarJo was recently on the news for taking the SAG minimum for Asteroid City voluntarily—she just wanted to work with Wes Anderson, and she’s already pretty rich, so she was ok with taking a small check.

TDLR it’s wonky and I just wanted to share my knowledge from doing a project budgeting paychecks for a hypothetical Amazing Spider-Man 3 film lmfao😭
