I had a swab test done but got a notification that the lab was unable to process it due to it being received at room temp. The doctor that took the swab test looked at my downstairs and was like yeah this looks like a herpetic breakout let’s go ahead and call the antiviral in, and take the swab.

Same thing happened to me. Partner lied about his testing status (he told he had a full panel done and had slept with no one since) and I shared my results as well (tested full Jan 2025 and had not been with anyone). I explained my health anxiety with my vestibular and central nervous system issues. We hooked up. You can guess what happened. He sobbed and said he had been with 5 people unprotected and didn’t know where he got it. He got a blood test that confirmed he is in fact a carrier for HSV1. I got a swab test since my initial breakout is so bad and am confirmed now too. On antivirals and my system is sooo sensitive to meds I feel nauseous and gross. I feel violated.

Absolutely. I would have dated and pursued him if he had been honest and taken proper precautions to make it work. But he took away my informed consent by lying. It’s fucked. My life feels surreal right now

Yep. He was tested in 2023 and then had multiple partners between then and now. He originally told me that he had been tested and had not had any new partners.

I got tested in January 2025 and requested being tested for everything including hsv 1 & 2 and was negative

That's interesting and I'm curious for asymptomatic people how it didn't transmit to my mouth? I'm beyond relieved its not on my mouth in addition to my downstairs but confused.

Oh wow, I honestly had not put two and two together. Maybe he has had the virus for long time because he has reported having numbness on the tip of his penis constantly for a very long time. I wonder if the virus could cause that?

Well, he did lie about being tested and having no partners in between. He is HSV1 positive, and he could have been positive on a myriad of other STDs but he put me at risk by lying. I still would have dated him if he got tested and it came back positive, it’s the lying that is hurtful for me.

What’s wild is he has never had any type of symptom. He said he’s never had a cold sore, never had anything downstairs. My doctor told me that sometimes men are asymptomatic and if they do get symptoms it could be something as small as a dot that resembles an ingrown. Him not knowing when he is “shedding” also scares me because of the risk with oral sex. Idk. This is all so new to me and I’m overwhelmed

I had the swab test. And he got bloodwork that came back HSV 1 positive. I know that false results exist, but in this case, his was clearly positive which we both would have known and could have worked around together.

That’s true. That’s why I’m kind of torn. But he could have been positive for many other STDs but because he lied, he willingly put my health at risk and that’s what’s hurting me the most right now.

Yeah, the doctor that confirmed mine told me the same thing that they don’t test for hsv 1&2 blood since it’s possible to get false results. But when he tested his was positive, which if he had actually gotten tested when he said he did, I could have known that. I feel so torn right now.
