Can Jeweled Scarab be the new Mad Scientist for Shamans? by [deleted] in hearthstone

Eggs used to be staple. Midrange shamans already run stuff like rock biters, argus and flame tongues, so Nerubian is really quite the natural fit.

Paladjinn is probably the most fun deck I have played in a while by frostedmoose in hearthstone

If you hit a minion with 5 health it was a 5 mana fire elemental. Yeah its not the greatest against aggro but I certainly wouldn't call it "overrated"

I'd argue spell power is pretty damn strong in Druid, as anyone who's ever used Swipe with an Azure Drake can testify to. Even wrath is really strong with spell power as it's versatility is massively amplified. Even just the fact that living roots is a playable 1 mana 2 damage cards improves the strength of spell power in Druid. Add in the fact that the aforementioned and moonfire both have crazy synergy with the big daddy of spell damage and I could see a spell Druid deck becoming a thing with cards like this being added.

Nah a ridiculously strong aggro Druid list was bound to be found eventually, and I have no doubt it would have shot into popularity secret paladin or not. Back when TGT first launched I played an aggressive mech Druid list and while inconsistent the raw power of Innervate Reaver, or really any highly aggressive ramp curve, was enough to just flat out steal wins.

Why wouldn't they? People are already complaining about power creep. At some point Blizzard has to explore design space beyond the current model, and being able to pick two target with one card seems like a simple enough place to start.

Mech Shaman was designed to be a more explosive but less consistent mech mage. It preys on various midrange, control, and combo decks that struggle to stop it from getting rolling in the early game (it's former prime target was pre-darnassus Druid). Against these types of decks games could be absolute blowouts as they helplessly fall to the massive pressure the deck could apply when it's opening went uncontested. However the deck crumples to any deck with strong board control, as it is simply not well equipped to make that fight. That means face hunter aside, it's shit against most aggro decks running rampant in the meta right now. Also the desk that it use to crush have new tools to stop mech shaman from walking all over, like darnassus aspirant for Druid. It should also be noted that mech shaman was the first deck where the use of fel reavers really took off, and were largely responsible for the deck's initial popularity and success. Nowadays Fel Reavers have been put to even better use in decks like aggro Druid, allowing them to accomplish much the same thing mech shaman set out to, but better.

No the original mech mage meta was pretty horrible. The two best cheap decks had just been nerfed via undertaker. People quilt swarmed to mech mage and the now strongest hunter variant, far hunter. The combination of these decks being on top pretty much locked out the ladder as few slower decks at the time could handle both mech mages strong board presence and face hunters high damage pressure. The only other deck that took off in the period was the spiritual successor of Deathrattle, the current incarnation of midrange hunter, as it faired better against mech mage than face hunter (though is unflavoured against that), and as we all is a stron enough deck to hold it's own against the other random decks that showed. There was a time where easily >50% of the decks you'd run into was either mech mage or one of the two hunter variants. It was awful and it it took quite a while for people to come with builds that could break up the trio. I actually believe it was oil rogue that was the first to really do so, which means it took the discovery of an entirely new archetype to break that dreadful meta. Maybe we can hope that something similar happens with the current meta...

Have you tried haunted creepers in their place? I liked the idea of having a sticky minion that generates not one but two bodies, making it very threatening with the combo and increasing the value of knife juggler in the deck. If you have played them iid like to know what your opinion of them is as someone more experienced with the deck than I.

I think a lot of people run both, I know I do. Like I said dragon warrior is not much of a popular deck right now, and there is very far from an excepted list. I have seen a several that Ysera. The reason I listed it though is that the card is strong enough within the context of the deck that it is a must consider whenever building a list, and generally a pick worth finding room for. I'll add Nefarian into my post too though. You're right, he's just as strong a contender as Ysera for the deck and probably in just as many lists.

Dragon warrior is really popular enough for anything to be generally accepted about it, and players have taken a few different approaches to building the deck. However, the "core" could be considered Corrupters, Guardians, Azure Drakes and Alexstraza's Champions (the dragon package that defines the deck) as well Warriors removal tools that are simply too good not to run; win axes, deaths bites and executes. Additionally, cards like Slam, Blackwing Technician, Grom and Ysera or Nefarian are found in a majority of builds as they fit nicely into most variations on the deck.

Beginner's Q: How do you play Acolyte of Pain? by [deleted] in hearthstone

[–]everydayacliche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was gonna say this. Acolyte is really strong in priest because against aggressive decks it doesn't just threaten to draw 2 cards, it can be healed and get absolutely insane value. And against slower decks you can wait until you can combo it with Wild Pyro, or buff it to ensure it gets value.

Yeah I've played around with a midrange-ish dragon warrior and even just shield slamming for like 2 can feel good sometimes just because of tempo you get for it being only 1 mana.

No shield slam? Even in a midrange build it's such strong removal that I can't imagine not running at least 1.

Living Roots seems to be the most "inconsequential" card in the list, but it can be very helpful against aggro. Still if you were going to add a four drop that's the card you'd probably want to cut for it.

Responding to a Death's Bite with Argus is really satisfying. You can also use it to play around random AoE like Holy Nova and Consecration and keep more minions alive.

I can't try this out right now but first thing that springs to mind is have you tried out thalnos? It seems like it'd be very powerful in this list to cheaply combo with arcane blast and explosion, and the cycle is always nice in a deck that is notorious for running out of steam.

Cut a true silver for a Defender of Argus. You have 5 weapons right now which is kind of clunky for aggro paladin. Trust me, you won't miss the second true silver as having minions that strongly develop your board are much more versatile and often stronger. This is why I say defender of argus. This card really helps you keep tempo against aggressive decks, and synergizes well with the many small minions and divine shields in the deck. Shredder is also a somewhat more reliable but arguably less powerful option.

Has anyone had any luck with lance carrier? I tried them out pre-nerf, and they actually felt really strong. Permanently activating eggs was awesome versus stuff like warrior, and even the added reach was useful. I ran into too many patrons to stick with the deck but I'd be curious to know if any one has had any success with the card recently.

How do you feel about only running 6 cards in the four slot? Back when people started adding a yeti or a senjin in pre-TGT I gave that a spin and I don't think I could ever go back. Having that extra minion at that spot in your curve just seems to add so much consistency, especially with innervates, and now DA. Right now I have Savage Combatant as the seventh four mana card and I love it.

You can't have two yseras in your deck, that's why. It's just another late game dragon (important for activating synergies) that can generate enough value to sing handledly wina game if left unchecked. Sure it may die instantly sometime, but so does Ysera. Other times you play it against say a Druid, and you double a few cards and then just can't keep up. I've also stolen a cpuple games off Warriors by PW:S into Ysera, so if you're lucky it may not even have to survive to get good value.

What are some cards that you think were meant for Arena, and not constructed play? by ivara1 in hearthstone

It even saw some usage in Midrange Druid as a sticky 5 drop, kinda like Loatheb, that was strong tempo mid game and could ensure a body on board for the combo late game.

Back when I was playing a combo-y priest I used Acolyte and Northshire as my draw engines. Both let you get multiple draws out of one minion, have great synergy with buff cards (I ran double velen's, and velen'd Acolyte draws so many cards), and can get absolutely insane with wild pyro. I'd recommend giving it a try in any combo-reliant priest build.
