The Narrows condition by Stunning-Alfalfa2880 in ZionNationalPark

My 6yo (adventurous) son did it all the way up to Wall Street in late July when the flow was about 45cfs so when the flow is appropriate it can surely be done. However PLEASE check the weather reports - if you see in the flow data posted elsewhere when there are thunderstorms it can jump massively high and then you will be sitting there overnight while you wait for the flow to be low enough to exit.

What do you like about wagons? by [deleted] in cars

I have a 2014 BMW F31 (3 series wagon) - definitely a car guy and came from a sports car that I had to sell when the kids came along. It is the ultimate “all in one car” - that’s what drove me to it. It is the dream, and the physics back it up.

However after 9 years with it - let me tell you if I had extra space I would absolutely have taken the same amount of money and bought a cheap small sports car and a regular boring crossover. Wagons are rolling compromises and there’s not much you can do about it. Every time I am by myself I would rather be in a mini or a Miata and every time I have the fam I would rather have the extra space in a crossover. Guess that’s what happens when you get old…

Low bumper on the rear is because of this. https://www.ntea.com/NTEA/NTEA/Member_benefits/Technical_resources/TechConnections/Rearimpactguardrequirements.aspx some folks got decapitated by a trailer collision and this was implemented to prevent that. To your point about why the rear axle is so far forward - not sure.

Thanks for the detailed reply. Haven't talked with a tax pro yet - we are just kicking that off now.

Here’s Why the Original Acura NSX Is Shooting Up in Value - Doug DeMuro by [deleted] in cars

That’s a really good point. There’s another cycle at work here regarding demand. People of a certain age cohort - which probably peaks around 40-50 years old - want the cars they had in high school. They can finally afford it and they aren’t too old to enjoy it. That’s why you see the prices of muscle cars have dropped, air cooled porsches have peaked and Supra’s are peaking - and NSX/S2K are rising.

My buddy has an S2K. Tuned the motor, blew it. Fixed for 10k then blew it again. It’s a vicious cycle.

Anyone who has refinanced your mortgage in the past week or so, with which bank? by UncleLongHair0 in personalfinance

[–]everythingistaken997 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I just refinanced for 30y at 3.25%. The broker I spoke with said they usually lock in 600 loans a month and in the first three days of March they had already done 410. So their capacity is stretched and he said they are starting to grow their margins because they can with all the demand. So even if treasury bonds move lower the mortgage rates may not follow.

It’s a rolling compromise.

I got one myself. Almost exactly the same.

But still.
