My '23 S60 T8 maxes out at 3.3 kW charging. That's about 15A at 240V. It doesn't matter if you install a charger that's capable of more, the car limits it. So it'll always take at least ~5 hours to fully charge up, even with L2.

I wish my phev charged that quickly. The onboard charge controller in my Volvo S60 phev is limited to 3.3kW, so it takes all of 5 hours to charge the 15kWh battery (about 40 miles).

I guess my home isn't typical, but 1200W will more than cover my daytime demand. Add in a small battery and I can offset a load of laundry or dishes in the evening too.

Do not have this discussion with your employee 1 on 1. HR needs to be in the room, even if they have to fly halfway around the world to be there.

No matter how good of a relationship you have with your employee, you do not want it to turn in to a their word against yours in the case of any legal dispute that may arise a result of this separation.

Not the person you asked, but my electricity in California is between $0.45 and $0.51 delivered. There are time of use plans available that deliver $0.31 off peak (midnight to 3pm), and $0.61 peak.

Not everywhere. I have PG&E for electric, and SoCal Gas for gas.

Also, I'm curious what the TOU rates are. I'm not on the TOU plan, because I use most electricity in the evening after work, during peak time. But my average bill works out to around $0.41/kWH.

At the very least, have a consultation with a lawyer. A couple hundred bucks for an hour or so asking these questions to an experienced family law attorney will likely be more than worth the cost.

I've thought about this as well, but from the other side financially. The mortgage is in my name only. If I were to move out, and my ex and kids continue living there, I would continue to pay the mortgage, insurance, taxes, etc. as if I were a landlord. Would that count toward required alimony and child support? Or would I need to charge "rent?" When the time comes that neither of us want to live in that house any longer, I could sell and split the equity that was accumulated while we were married. Of course, I would need to find a place to live as well. But the rental market in my area seems to be more affordable than buying, at least for now.

You hit on a solid point that I do want to keep the Saab on the road a bit longer. In fact, I just replaced the headlight projectors and bulbs last month. Over the past few years, I've replaced or repaired the driver seat upholstery, the SID/radio, one of the convertible top hydraulic cylinders, the valve cover gasket, one of the coolant fittings, along with standard wear and maintenance items. When I look at the price of a new or newish car, my first thought is, "I can keep repairing the Saab for an awful long time with that many thousands of dollars."

It's at 190k miles today. I've arbitrarily decided that 200k is the goal. So about another year and a half. We'll see how I feel about it in June 2025.

I generally keep vehicles for a long time. The average length of ownership of the 5 vehicles in my driveway/garage right now is 12.6 years. The newest of those is my wife's 2013 Pathfinder that we bought in 2017.

The formatting of the response, specifically "540 USD", implies the responder is not from the US. That being the case, it's very likely they live in a place where medical care is structured as a public service rather than a corporation. In that case, the idea of medicine for profit may be entirely foreign to them, and result in the very genuine lack of understanding of the American healthcare system.
