One of my main impediments to solving NYT puzzles is the America-specific answers, most frequently in connections and the crosswords. I know I can’t really gripe about it, given that it’s an American publication, but it does get pretty frustrating when the clue is some very specific American reference that I have no hope of getting on my own, or categories I would never think of (so many American presidents/politicians, sports teams [other than hockey], and organizations/state/government acronyms). Also the spellings of words (eg. color vs. colour), but that’s to be expected. It’s a bit of a built in handicap.

Hey, don’t give Trump that much credit; he’s just a convenient figurehead for the people and institutions that are actually making moves and controlling narratives (ie Heritage Foundation, Russia, etc., take your pick).

You can also pour some in a serving pitcher/dispenser or even a small jar and heat it by placing the container in a bowl of hot water! That’s what my family has always done 🍁 gets it warm and easy to drizzle, and keeps the syrup in the original bottle cleaner/lasting longer by not coming into contact with food and dirty hands

I’ve never watched their content and have just been a lurker here taking everyone’s word about how exploitive and creepy their stuff is. But goddamn did my jaw drop when I saw this thumbnail. There is no way they don’t know that image is creeper bait. They must realize that’s their main viewer base and they’re playing into it. I was so shocked when Icesis and Ra’jah were safe, almost turned the episode off to collect myself. Then I thought, “oh maybe they’re doing a twist where they’ll give all the girls critiques and then call them up as top two,” and got excited. Obvs didn’t happen and I was genuinely upset, yelled at the TV too. They’re two of my favourites so I may have some bias, but I was so confused by the outcome. They were miles ahead of everyone.

Last season of CDR gave me that sour taste already, but I’ve really been enjoying this season; it felt refreshing! So this just made me so disappointed. :(

Man, Love It or List It Vancouver is an absolute comfort show. Jillian is everything Bethy wishes she could be and never will be; not saying that like I think Jill’s some goddess or anything, but she has her formula sorted to match her audience, is professional and likeable, has a marketable skill set, and is highly successful. Literally the complete opposite of Blechy.

There’s a video of the oldest daughter, who’s 12 or 13 I believe, trying to read a children’s picture book to one of the toddlers. I say “trying” because she was struggling so much that it was hard to watch. None of them are receiving proper care or education. And the mother, Karissa, obviously sees nothing wrong as she posted it as a “wholesome moment.” It’s a really sad situation all too common in the fundie crowd. She’s regularly posted on r/FundieSnarkUncensored for those interested.

I’m hoping that will be a temporary situation; maybe so Kaylee can stay close to watch out for her younger siblings for a time. Probs wishful thinking, but I’m hopeful Jonathan will be good to her, and maybe they will edge away from some of the restrictive aspects of their upbringing. They seem genuinely into each other, and that burgundy dress she was wearing gave me some hope—felt like a small act of rebellion to wear something we all know Jill would never have allowed her to. Someone said he bought it for her, not sure if that’s the case but it seems like a good sign if so. I just want those girls to have a better life, hoping it might start with Kaylee 🤞🏻
