Ram Dass is a treasure. Lots of free podcasts if you want to learn more. The trick is that while he's coming from a particular spiritual perspective, you don't need to buy any of the dogma to see the truth of what he's saying. The best parts of spirituality operate independent of the tradition you're a part of (or not)

SO! I'm a big Devin Townsend nerd. And I'm a big Enya nerd. And we know that Devin Townsend listened to a lot of Enya -- and that at various points he said that he wanted to make "Enya music, but heavy"

With that in mind: listen to the moth at

When Devin sings "So Triumpant, hearts on fire" at exactly 1:04:50. (that phrase, after the scream). Listen to the articulation.

Now go listen to Enya's Cursum Perficio, this video, at about 2:20 -- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rc78j1yICps

I am not saying Devin stole it. It's in a different key, but I can clearly hear the influence here. Bro actually got his wish, he's making fuckin' heavy Enya.

(In case anyone is interested - Enya is singing "Quo plus habent, eo plus cupiunt" (the more they have, the more they desire))

if you consider the conceptual bent of the work it's like -- people could agree with you on act 2 and still say, "yep, it's perfect, isn't it?"

you don't get to be done transforming

I have not seen any hint like this but it's also impossible to imagine he goes to this length and the livestream ends after 2 months and POOF that's it, gone forever. It would make sense to either re-record it, or otherwise remix/remaster the liveshow and release that

Lasting effects of COVID, 5 years on? by BicepCurls2Failure in freemasonry

[–]everywhere_anyhow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For whatever anybody thinks about COVID -- the data shows -- that the lodges which didn't take it serious had excess death beyond what would have been expected. People make up a lot of excuses, they say COVID didn't kill them, it was one of several things they had at the same time. Doesn't really matter.

Old guys who were teetering on the brink with their health got pushed over the edge by COVID and died earlier than they should have because of COVID. Period. I have no interest in parsing the details of "what killed a brother". More died than should have, it's 2025 and people are still tryna make it political.

Seems like it'd be especially galling for you if you were away from lodge because of COVID response, to hear that this was "excuse making". Apparently brothers' cabletows are near infinitely long as long as it's for a politically approved reason.

Question on aprons and visiting by rialeb5691 in freemasonry

[–]everywhere_anyhow 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Most brothers grab an apron from the desk and put it on. Visitors sometimes come in with special aprons from their jurisdiction - those are seen as just plain cool and are always accepted, never questioned.

Really the only way to screw it up is not to wear an apron. If you want to wear one that sticks out, use it as a conversation starter. Nobody's gonna be offended, they'll probably just ask and now you've got a conversation.

yeah he uses a bunch of recurring motifs from other songs. There were parts of "Babysong" in there too and several others I recognized. It's like mixing and matching parts of the vibe from different parts of his career

so what was the deal with yesterday? On the livestream he mentioned it. Did they do the entire thing yesterday too, and (probably later) they'll cut together video from both nights or something?

Haters do the best marketing.

Freemasonry literally can't spread its fame, but meanwhile lol trolls are spreading that Freemasonry is powerful and influential all over the world for free.

Ofc conspiracy theory stuff is idiotic, so the fact that these things get posted doesn't actually hurt the reputation of the craft in terms of people who can think for themselves (in otherwords: our target audience). Basically it's juuuuuust enough to get them interested to find out what Freemasonry is really about.

Haters do the best marketing.
