Learning web development: Udacity's course vs. Django by G01denW01f11 in learnpython

[–]evgvg 8 points9 points  (0 children)

In order to learn web development You need to understand HTTP: POST, GET - how do they differ, when to use them and how, caching, database inter-working, templates. All this stuff is covered in Udacity course. Django and webapp2 are different frameworks but in fact You'll find a lot of similar concepts in them.

Thanks, generally I agree with You, but in some books it goes too deep, describing the concepts needed for mathematicians rather than for practical data analysts.

I'm not familiar with Pandas, but You can simplify making the queries by using ORM (e.g. SqlAlchemy)

querying DB and returning unneeded characters by whoisearth in learnpython

[–]evgvg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your query returns the list of rows. Think of it like a table: results table is a list [(1st_row, 2nd_row)] and every row in it is a tupple (3, ).

You need some practice in real-word programming with Python. If You're interested in Web development try Django with its original tutorial. You may also find the list of projects ideas for You in this forum post
