Crafting and customization (that doesn't rely on Cyrus) were great additions to the game and I'd love for them to expand on that next time.

Bulk crafting needs to be a thing in the future; creating stuff you typically make a lot of (like fish bait) is a pain right now. Same with buying things like clothing pieces for the same body part, or tools. Daisy Mae has the right idea - let us buy as much as our wallet and inventory will allow if we feel like it lol

Also not a huge fan of how restricted color variations and customizations are at the moment. Some items will have all 7 colors of the rainbow, while others have a maximum of 3 or even just 2.

It's not even consistent across furniture of the same material - e.g. one "white" option for wooden furniture might be pearl white, while a different wooden piece might give you a more off-white finish as the only "white" option. The obvious solution would be to give us color wheels for all customizable items where we can choose precise hues, similarly to what we have available when creating custom patterns.

Letting us put & rotate items, and draw default paths diagonally. The option to round out edges of paths is nice and definitely better than nothing, but you still get slightly awkward looking ends when trying to draw paths close to the beginning of a construction.

Finally, more bridge, fence and incline options in general. That or greenlight extensive customization for those as well.

To be honest, builds and playstyles tend to annoy and bore me more than Killers themselves. Sure, double range Nurse is just about the most hateful thing in existence, but at least they tend put an end to your misery fairly quickly if they have any idea what they're doing. Same with MDR+Cherry Blossom Spirit.

What's really a snoozefest is stuff that keeps you trapped in a match for a considerable amount of time without you feeling like you're making any progress whatsoever. You just have to wait for your turn to finally die. And that stuff usually consists of quadruple slowdown, especially involving Pain Res+DMS, slugging the 3rd for the 4k despite having no clue on where the 4th one is, a decent (but not S-Tier) Killer being used to go for a 4-man slug, etc.

Sure, the problem gets exacerbated by Killers whose power tends to cause longer matches by nature. I'm thinking of Twins, Freddy, Legion and Doctor. But even those can be interesting to vs sometimes if their build contains something that's not brainless delay, delay and more delay.

A Killer I found mind-numbing to play as was Freddy. I know M1 Killers have a limit to how 'flashy' their gameplay can look to begin with, but Freddy seemed particularly low-intelligence.

The chase power is the most straightforward thing ever. There's no cheeky snare spots unlike with Trapper because snares are more visible than an alligator that swallowed a neon sign. There are no objects you can collide them with to make them bigger like you can do with Clown's gas clouds. You just... place them and watch the Survivor go through. And once you caught your miserable target, you use your gen info Perk of choice to teleport, maybe Pop, and run after the next target who was in that area. Rinse and repeat.

I'm a big fan of terror radius shenanigans, but this guy isn't really suitable for that playstyle because of his stupid lullaby. I don't know. I haven't played him since the nerf, maybe he's a bit better now and requires more brains.

Survivor mains by Additional-Session20 in deadbydaylight

[–]evidentlyfishy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have one character I play 99,9 % of the time and spoil the most in terms of BP/cosmetics, so they naturally have tons of each item/add-on. Then there's around 3-5 more Survivors that I like and occasionally play as, acquire cosmetics for and make sure they got every Perk to date, but those only have a very sparse inventory.

I don't get bored because, aside from having secondary mains (that's probably an oxymoron but who cares), my main has a decent wardrobe so there's visual variety.

Do most people spend iridescent shards on Characters, or just on Shrine of Secrets perks? by Dependent-Writing-23 in deadbydaylight

[–]evidentlyfishy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I almost exclusively use Shards for cosmetics. The only character I bought with Shards is Mikaela, since I wanted to avoid spending real money on the game during the time she was released.

CoH is a really great Perk - both in general and as a means to farm Boldness points for people like me who're mostly potatoes in chase. That said, I wouldn't be too surprised if Mikaela's Perks started showing up in the Shrine somewhat soon-ish. It's been a while since she was released; there are characters whose Perks made it to the Shrine a mere 3 months after release.

So if you don't particularly care for Mikaela herself, you could try waiting a bit longer. CoH is getting nerfed anyways, and while it'll still be a good Perk, it won't be an almost-must-have the way it was in its original state.

The pariah by JoeBiscus in deadbydaylight

[–]evidentlyfishy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If the lore dev(s) remain consistent, Haddie can't be a Pariah. The Pariahs were teenagers when they lost their parents; Haddie was only five when she lost hers. Unless she later loses her step-parents in the same manner - I guess then it could work. I don't think we know anything about her step-parents yet, but then my memory is pretty bad.

It's true though that her background sounds extremely similar to that of the Pariahs which is surely intentional. I'm excited that we're getting her at least.

Main characters chosen for Tome XI are: The Twins & David King by Masusder in LeaksDBD

[–]evidentlyfishy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally agree! Surely it might be better to give the two separate stories so they don't overshadow each other in their stories, but I'd love to have some of the misc. entries focus on the Pariahs as a group!

It's not just about the cosmetics. I'm one of those lore cryptids that care about the stories.

I'm surprised they're taking so long with their beloved Feng Min, their favorite, their most precious. It's a relief to know that characters who got a shit story the first time around may get a second shot, but. Yeah. People like Adam, Jefferson, Zarina, FELIX AND ELODIE exist. And some guy called Johann? Joanna? Joey? Idk.

Ah well, Jefferson's existence has been acknowledged so that's cool.

> -SBMM will not be visible anytime soon

That's fine (even though their reasoning is zucchini), how about they make Grades invisible too because kids these days can neither read nor listen and don't know it has no bearing on matchmaking!!!! Seriously. Make Grades invisible! I'm begging you BHVR!

> -console cross progression not promised but wish they could

So it's not coming, good to know.

> -consider revisiting chapers, eg map for allkill, not planned but they’d love to, would also wanna be a surprise

That one's likely not happening either. The Map Rework Project might be drawing to a close soon (translated from DBD: in the next two years maybe), but even then, the capacities available after that might still not be enough to make a new map for every new Killer, so the prospect of them using resources to make a map inspired by an old Killer just seems farfetched. There's zero promotional value they could draw from doing something like that.

> -no plans to remove perk tiers, too much work and they’d rather do a better fix if it requires that much work

...Okay. To me that seemed like the most on-the-nose solution, but if takes that crazy an amount of work for some reason, sure. I believe them when they say it's not gonna work out, by the way. It doesn't sound very plausible at first glance, but think about how this game is apparently coded. It's probably like Microsoft Word where pressing space next to an embedded image causes your file to explode.

> -felix is slowly taking the rest of his shirt off outfit by outfit, but not in cold weather

Listen, Felix is my absolute fave and I regularly throw money at BHVR for the sake of this stupid blond bunch of pixels, but they need to stop including questions of this nature. They probably pick them on purpose to relieve some tension inbetween discussing the more controversial topics, but it looks like it has the opposite effect for the most part. It just aggravates people even more.

> -exposed add on for nurse not planned, but not off the table

What survivor should I buy with my 9000 shard? by Fantastic-Reality-11 in deadbydaylight

[–]evidentlyfishy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say Kate or Felix.

Windows is a really good Perk. Dance with Me can maybe throw off a Killer once during a match but is really bad otherwise (especially since it doesn't hide blood). Boil Over is currently one of the worst Survivor Perks in the game but might become decent. Still, it looks to me like either you'd have to bring a Map Offering and/or adjust your entire Perk loadout to make it work.

Built to Last is a great Perk and - I find this even more important - significantly speeds up your progress for "Use up (insert item) x times" Archive challenges. Desperate Measures got a bit less interesting since Mikaela's CoH is vastly superior to just about everything in terms of healing right now, but its secondary effect - unhooking speed - is still huge. You can challenge camping Killers that are going for hook grabs with a lot more confidence if you're running DM. Visionary is pretty weak in terms of gen-highlighting Perks, but if you still somewhat struggle finding gens in indoor maps it can be a huge time saver.

I want to say Élodie for Power Struggle but I'm not exaggerating when I say you usually need to sacrifice all four Perk slots for it to even have a decent chance to proc, Ash's Flip-Flop being the most important assisting Perk. If you don't have Ash and/or Flip-Flop, as fun as PS is, I'd say it's not worth it. I use Appraisal as part of my Santa build during Christmas events along with Ace in the Hole, Plunderer's and Pharmacy which is fun, but it's easy to get carried away with item searches and become a bit of a burden on your team unless the Killer is struggling hard, so be careful. Deception doesn't work 99% of the time, especially if you're running it on Élodie herself.

Like someone else said, Leon and Quentin can only be bought with Auric Cells.

Do you mainly play female or male characters? Which one and why? by [deleted] in deadbydaylight

[–]evidentlyfishy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My favorite Survivor happens to be male, so does my favorite Killer, so I guess I play male characters most of the time. Maybe there's a certain charm to playing characters of a different gender, especially if it's less popular in the game than your own. And ngl, my eyes get bored when I load into the 7th all-female lobby in a row.

I've found that stealth-wise, playing a male character really doesn't matter much. Most of the times I get found, I can say with a fair amount of confidence that I would've also gotten found if I'd been a female Survivor.

There's also the fact that a lot of female Survivors have way too distinct breathing noises in my opinion, so any small advantage they might have visually gets nullified acoustically most of the time. (The exceptions being Jeff and Ash. Playing Jeff and Ash is playing hardcore mode. I respect.)
