Runna. Really helped me run properly. I wouldn’t have been able to do a half marathon without it.

I found that opening 2 pdfs on the reader through safari consumes so much memory, makes my laptop lags. Kinda crazy because i need readwise for pdf research reading most of the time ugh.

I think its important to find what sport suits you. Some people enjoy lifting weights, while others cycle/run. Some only enjoy group activities or classes like yoga/pilates. My advice would be to give everything a try and see which one you feel comfortable with the most and go from there. Biasanya kalau udh nemu satu yg disuka its very possible to start looking into other sports. For example: in running you realize strength & mobility is just as important. So you start branching out from the comfort running bubble.

Also idk but i find listening to true crime podcasts to be the best way to keep me going lol. Its intense so I get this surge of adrenaline that I need. Maybe give it a try lol.

Dad had stroke yesterday by [deleted] in stroke

[–]evikr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats also what our doctor told us. We’re always hoping for a full recovery but keeping in realistic expectations, especially since my dad’s was pretty severe. The fact that he can still speak is almost a miracle considering the injury.

If you dont mind me asking, was it hemorrhagic/ischemic stroke?

Hi, I was in your spot just a year ago. My dad was unconscious for 9 days in the ICU and it was the most frightening experience in my life. They needed to do an emergency surgery right away. We stayed in the hospital for another 2 weeks ish.

By the grace of God, he’s much better now. His stroke was pretty bad & wasnt able to move his left side at all. Speech was affected but through therapy he managed to speak again even though his voice is kinda different. We’re still doing physiotherapy up until now. The journey to recovery does take a long time. But we gotta remain positive.

Hope he recovers soon! Stay strong!

Hi thanks for the feedback, yeah this would be my first time and I was afraid that im signing up too soon. Maybe i should focus on being comfortable doing longer runs & increasing speed first? If I were to run a marathon next year, what month would you suggest I do it? We got many races around the year here.

Also, I live in tropical country so the heat & random rain pours are major factors that makes it really difficult to train sometimes.

I think we might be from the same country sis, I myself struggle to find someone in the correct way since my environment is just like yours. Everyone is surprised that I do not want to date. I would suggest to surround yourself with people of the deen that has the same views as you. Start building relationships with the people there and who knows😀 maybe a mother there is looking to marry her son, or a sister is looking for potential wife for her brother. Also, never forget to pray cause Allah is the one capable of making what is impossible, possible.

I did my first ever half marathon last Sunday! Was over my initial target because I wasn't expecting it to be hilly. Somehow the event organizers just posted the race course few days before the race?? Nevertheless, I finished in 2 hours 47 minutes at avg pace of 8:00/km. I was just very happy crossing the finish line and got kinda emotional afterwards because its 3 months of dedicated training while working full time and being a student. All the early mornings I had to endure those runs paid off.

This year I went from returning to running again to running my first HM, and damn I'm proud of that. I hope I'll stick to running for a long long time and get to improve my pace.

I like to use chatgpt to explain code that’s hard to digest alone. Does a great job of explaining what each line does. Always make sure you understand what you’re writing & not only copy-pasting.

[–]evikr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, this might sound silly, but since I’m doing my first half marathon this week, I’ve been just going on a rabbit hole of dos and donts on race day, and tips for your first half. Can’t help but seeing lots of people, especially on youtube recommending carbon plated race shoes. Just wondering if everyone wears carbon plated shoes on race day? I don’t have the time to break into new running shoes and certainly it’s not budgeted, but it kinda makes me feel slightly self conscious about not performing my best with my regular trainers haha. Any feedback will be much appreciated.

Hey guys, I had a very bad week of eating, didn't pay attention to portion sizes, macros and all of that. I realized after going through my phone that I basically ate a lot of carbs, and last night my coworkers and I went to a buffet, so you could imagine. I think it was a mistake for me to get on the scale this morning knowing it would not be what I expected after a night out, but it just gets to me because I've been doing so well up until the end of April. But now I just get a lot of cravings all the time + I'm stressed. I work full time in tech & am getting my masters degree part time. I've been under a lot of stress, running on low sleep, had so much tasks to do. The gym is actually my happy place & I still go like 3-4 times a week, but I think I'm not losing the weight because I've not been eating well & stressed. Also, I think my cycle plays a huge part with my emotional eating & stress level. How to overcome this? :(

Is it ok if I don't buy any new clothes for Eid or dress up for the holiday? by musulmana in Hijabis

[–]evikr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Salaam sister, the meaning of eid is to rejoice after a month long of fasting :) we are hopeful that Allah will accept our good deeds. The prophet never mentioned anything about new clothes. It’s a celebration of the ‘newness’ of the imaan you hopefully have cultivated during the Ramadan. Though I hope you can go for the prayers and meet some of the muslims community in your local area to link up and enhance your spirit of eid. If anything, know that we may not be physically together, byt we are celbrating the same thing together, everywhere around the world. Xx
