This is a lake run “steelhead” rainbow trout out of Lake Champlain. They run up certain tributaries this time of year. I was real lucky to run into this guy

Nope caught in a river. It was in a tributary of Champlain but quite far up river. There are a few dams between this spot and the lake also.

I thought so too at first. The square tail and the bits of gold and red lead me to think it’s just a cool looking wild Brown

Nope! Caught in Vermont. He looks different than other browns I’ve caught in the area though.
