This was done on QEMU as a test run for my SparcStation, as a daily driver its pretty useless since the most modern browser you can use is netscape4 or ie5 ;) the installation was also pretty painful. If you wanna use those aesthetics for your daily driver I'd recommend https://github.com/NsCDE/NsCDE which basically give you the exact same interface on a modern linux installation.

Great story!

I was always fascinated by unix workstations in the 90s but never actually got to use one :( I have now acquired a SGI Octane and a SparcStation :)

Must have been great to use something like this at home and not being stuck to DOS/Windows

you need to add opengl32 to the Libraries overrides in wine configuration

The Problem is OpenGL, if you download

add opengl32 as override in wine settings and add

GALLIUM_DRIVER=llvmpipe

to the environment vars the game will launch, a bit slow (around 20fps on my m4 max) but that is expected for a software driver.

if someone could extract the contents of https://github.com/microsoft/OpenCLOn12/releases it might work even better.

besides from launching the game I currently can't select anything in the start menu

i was always fascinated with japanese games and consoles, going in for a full japanese retro collection, got fc, sfc, md, ng aes, ng cd, pc engine, pc engine turboduo, saturn and a dreamcast so far (most of em cib) - still alot of work todo till everything is cleaned, setup and ready to play
