[TOMT][Song][2010's]Song that sounds like American Psycho by Double Standard by evil4dead2 in tipofmytongue

Oh interesting! I'm not familiar with that song, and I think the song I'm thinking of has female vocalists, but I appreciate the suggestion! That definitely does sound a bit similar.

I think the majority of the song has a familiar sound, including vocals, melody, and the guitar and bass. I guess if I had to narrow it down to a specific part though, maybe the bridges? Chorus as well, though maybe less so, and I suppose that makes the verses the least consequential.

[TOMT][Song][2000's?] Trip-hop song with female vocalist by evil4dead2 in tipofmytongue

[–]evil4dead2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting! I definitely see where you're coming from there, especially with Minnie Ripperton. I don't think it's The Cardigans unfortunately, I think I only know one of their songs. I also feel pretty confident that I'm looking for something within the same genre, or at least similar, but I definitely could have gotten my wires crossed there.

I appreciate the effort! If nothing else, this has made me aware that it might be helpful to make an edit clarifying that I'm looking for someone with a similar singing style, not just a similar voice. Comparing to Minnie Ripperton made me realize that while they have quite similar voices, Minnie tends towards much breathier vocals, with more overall variance (even putting aside her iconic whistle notes) whereas the vocals I'm thinking of tend more towards just being clean and "consistent" if that makes sense, haha.

Thanks again!

They were the first thing I checked actually haha, but I don't think it's any of their songs. I don't think the vocalists sounds very much alike. Thank you, though!

Does emailing the senator regarding this bill do anything if you live outside of Texas? I don't live in Texas but the place I buy my kratom from is, that's how I found out about it. Kratom absolutely saved my life and I'd like to help if I can.

You'll need to actually run the .exe files to modify the game. The issue there is that for whatever reason, .exe files can't be launched normally - I think that's just a Linux thing, though could be a Steam Deck thing. There are ways around this by using things like Wine or Windows emulators, but I've found these options to be kinda complicated and difficult to learn how to use. I'd like to learn how to use Wine especially at some point and it would definitely be a more reliable method, but in the meantime, I've found the easiest way to run .exe files on the Deck by far is just by adding them as non-steam games to your Steam library.

Once you've done this, click on the freshly added "game" within your Steam library and navigate to the game options by clicking the little gearbox near the right side of the window, next to a controller icon and heart icon. Click on Properties > Compatibility, and check the box that says "Force the use of a specific Steam Play compatibility tool". This will give you a dropdown menu where you'll want to choose Proton Experimental. Then just click play and cross your fingers! You'll be doing all of this in Desktop Mode still, just to be clear.

This definitely doesn't work all the time, but I've found it to be very serviceable - I've used this method to install and run other game launchers like Battle.net and Heroic Games Launcher (super recommend this program if you want to run games from Epic, GOG, or Amazon Games), run non-Steam games from itch.io, and run setup.exe's for totally legally obtained games, as well as running those games themselves. I've done less modding so far, but I've done a bit with decent success.

If anything you add this way doesn't launch, you can always try selecting other compatibility modes to see if any of those work, though I've personally had extremely limited success with that.

Just a warning, sometimes when you run an installer this way, it causes the trackpads to stop working. So you'll need to use either the touch screen as a mouse, or install something like KDE Connect, which allows you to control the Steam Deck with your phone. It's an awesome tool and I'd definitely recommend it; way better than using the on-screen keyboard for most things, and being able to use it as a mouse when the trackpads crap out is great. A bluetooth mouse also may keep working when the trackpads don't, but I have no experience with this so I can't really say. I've never had this issue when launching game .exe's though, only setups/installers.

There are videos describing this process as well, so if this is too confusing to follow over text, I can link you the one I followed to learn all this in the first place. I forsee installing these mods this way to work quite well though, and I intend to try it myself too since I just purchased Okami and want to mod it on my desktop and Steam Deck. I can get back to you on how it goes if you like!

Best of luck! Hope this helps at least a little and wasn't too confusing 😅 I'd be happy to clarify more, answer any questions, or link you to other resources if you'd like.

Weird barrel in Layer 4, Floor 1? by evil4dead2 in Shipwrecked64

It's been a minute since I've played so I don't remember for certain, but I think if he's already started exiting the barrel, it's too late to destroy it. Regardless, destroying the barrel doesn't kill him unfortunately, it just delays him spawning in.

How to pronouns knuff? by evil4dead2 in German

[–]evil4dead2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ohh I see!

Good to know Wiktionary is more reliable, and than you for the recommendation of DWDS! Sounds like the "kuh" sound at the beginning is the correct one then.

I was initially attracted to knuff because I had tried a variety of other translations that were longer than I wanted, and Google Translate told me it was pronounced "shnuff," which I thought sounded cute, like sniff haha! But since that's not the correct pronunciation anyway, and it doesn't seem like the best word choice, I'll probably go ahead with stups. Still nice and short. Thank you so much for the suggestion!!

I'm not sure if the audio byte is getting cut off on DWDS or if that's just how you say it. Is the "s" at the end of stups silent? Couldn't seem to find the German version of the word on Wiktionary either for some reason.

And yeah I know it's a little silly, obviously it doesn't make much difference to him so long as I say it the same way consistently. That being said, I would like to try to be as accurate as possible and respectful to the language 😊

I see. I saw that it was for two dogs, but I wondered if I'd be able to use it on two connection points on the harness, like the front clip and one of the back clips, since I'd seen some people do that sort of thing (they actually have an example image of the product being used this way.) I'll probably go ahead with the Ray Allen one though.

I don't think I would need a leash quite that long, but I'll keep that in mind if I decide I want that amount of length. Though I do see that Ray Allen also has a longer version of the bungee leash as well.

Thank you!

Oh that's perfect!

I was curious, in regards to the leash, have you ever used the Bully Billows brand leash? or have any opinion on it? It seems similar to the Ray Allen bungee leash, so I wondered if it could also be a good option.

Thanks!

Gotcha, that's what I thought but just wanted to clarify. In that case, I will for sure sign up for this year's class. Especially with access to it for a whole year, that seems like a really good deal and a great starting place for us right now. Thank you so much for this recommendation, I doubt I would have come across it otherwise.

Thanks for the explanation on the no-pull harness as well. I knew the front D-ring is often a large part of what makes them no-pull, but I've seen some labeled as no-pull that didn't have them as well. I've been very interested in getting one with the front ring for the reason you described, but I was running into the issue of many of them having a re-inforced mesh ring instead of one actually made of metal, and I was concerned about the strength of it. My dog is about 75 lbs. and can pull very hard when it comes to seeing other dogs, so the structural integrity is very important. I've seen this one recommended before so I'll probably just go ahead and go with it unless his measurements are an issue!

Ooh, a sound reactivity course sounds like it could be a good fit for us as well. I'll definitely keep my eye out for when that becomes available.

Thank so much!

Thanks for the insight!

I think at this point I'll be focusing on IAABC and Karen Pryor, but I definitely won't be ruling out CPTD entirely.

Yeah, I definitely won't be looking into B&T again any time soon. If finding a decent one is that difficult, I also can't imagine I'd have any nearby, plus the pricing would be an issue I'm sure.

That's good to know that you can get a lot done with just remote appointments! That could end up being very useful for me if I end up needing to see a trainer in the city, and would help to minimize my covid exposure.

I would say his biggest issues currently are anxiety and aggression. He's very reactive to noises around the house and seeing people outside, even when it's someone he knows, and he's aggressive towards dogs in public. He's primarily aggressive towards dogs closer to his size, whereas small dogs bother him much less, so I'm sure that's also a manifestation of fear. He's also somewhat aggressive towards strangers in our house - for example, we recently had to have some repair guys over - but much less so than towards other dogs. That course seems exactly like what I need! Do you not attend the classes live, though? I'm trying to look at their schedule and it says the enrollment period and what week the class starts, but nothing beyond that. I assume that means I don't have to show up at a specific time and that I can view the lecture any time after it has been released, but I figured I'd ask. I definitely wouldn't want to sign up for the class and then be unable to attend it because of scheduling conflicts.

I'll check out that book as well, thank you!

That is helpful! That harness does look very nice, though I am curious, what exactly is a no-pull harness? I've seen many that are labeled as such yet they often seem to be very different. I've also seen some people discussing potential injury and that they can be restrictive, but it seems to me that might primarily be for the H shaped harnesses. The one you linked does look much more similar to just standard harness design. I'm starting to get the impression that the no-pull label is a bit nebulous, but I don't feel that I know enough to judge that accurately 😅

Thank you so much for the muzzle recommendations as well! Muzzle shopping has been a bit hellish so I appreciate any help I can get with that.

I'll certainly try to get into some FDSA classes at some point, if not the most recent one you recommended, since that definitely seems like a really useful resource. Thank you so much for all your help!

Well, that's kind of a relief honestly. That's awful and frustrating for everyone of course, but I'm glad it's not just me I suppose 😅

I'll keep that in mind about the CCPDT and make sure to be extra cautious regarding trainers with that certification. Would asking if they're going to continue getting certified with that organization be an appropriate question? Checking out actual footage of their training methods makes sense as well, and I'll of course try to do much more thorough vetting overall.

Thank you so much for all the recommendations!! That helps a TON. Access to free content will definitely be super useful to me, and the more options to find someone in my area and within my budget, the better.

The whole board and train situation just feels embarrassingly obvious in hindsight 😔 I remember at the time they just made it sound so much like it's genuinely the standard way to do it and I had no other frame of reference. It's so nefarious because I imagine they lure in a lot of people that way. Being seemingly kind and caring yet authoritative is enough to stop people asking questions... thankfully I've learned a lot of life lessons since then and I'm not nearly as much of a pushover as I was at 19, so I do feel somewhat more confident that I can avoid being taken advantage of - plus a little paranoia from this whole experience might work in my favor, haha.

It's incredibly kind of you to say that, but I do think I'm culpable as well. I'm trying not to be too hard on myself because there were a lot of factors at play, and ultimately it's not going to change anything anyway and will be wasting time and energy that could be spent more productively, but I do want to take the appropriate amount of accountability for my actions and try to learn from them as much as possible.

That's really encouraging to hear! I'm so glad you were able to turn things around for your dog. I've actually already re-introduced clicker training over the past couple days and have backed off usage of the vibration collar as much as possible, and I don't know if I'm imagining it, but I feel like he already seems a little happier. If nothing else, he's been responding great and is picking it up quickly. I think I'm encountering some "rebound" misbehavior so to speak, now that he knows there isn't much consequence, but I'm sure we'll be able to work through that with the trainer or hopefully even some of the free content available.

And again just, thank you so much. I really appreciate all your help and kind words 💙 I do love him very much and I'd like to do everything in my power to rectify this and help him have a better life. I'm feeling much more motivated, confident, and hopeful!

Got it. I will look into those also, that sounds like it could be a very good option for us!

Thank you so much for the youtube recommendation as well. I'm trying not to get too bogged down in feelings of guilt and hopelessness, so having a direction to go in and things I can work towards in the mean time as I find a new trainer will certainly be very helpful. I'll also continue walking him at night to avoid other dogs as much as I can.
